Brilliant
The updated app is brilliant. So much better than the old app.
Handy to have
This app is helpful for reminders about upcoming events. The online payment functionality is a very cumbersome. I spent way too much time trying to enter a payment for a specific thing for multiple children and gave up. Too time consuming. The additional areas in the 'More' button has school events, notes due, an online form to notify for absences, online ordering and newsletters that I feel get lost because of where they are. If they were on the front screen they may get used more.
The 'Home' & 'Contact us' buttons takes you to the same info. That screen real estate could be better used by replacing it with both the School events and newsletters instead.
The address and contact details could be listed under the emblem that when the user clicks on it they are taken to the phones 'maps' app with a pre-fill of the address.
All 'Notes' (those due and absenteeism) would be better off on the front screen replacing the online payment button.
This could then link the user through to payments or just add it to the 'More' button.
Just my thoughts and feedback from a time poor user perspective. Now that I have spent time looking at what else the app has from just receiving messages, I will use it more often.
Perhaps the school could promote the app with some flyers around the school and mention it in the newsletter.
Could be improved...
Notifications disappear as soon as I unlock my screen. This is very frustrating, particularly if I am unlocking my screen for another reason other than to read the message from the app.
Also I feel that notifications could be more clearly written.
The school should utilise the great communication channel more and better.
