LIFE DESCRIPTION

Sometimes Life seems really short, and other times impossibly long.
This app will help you to emphasize that it’s most certainly finite.
Life shows you, the days, months, and years you have left and that they are all you have got.
Don’t be afraid, that means the only appropriate word to describe your time left is “precious”.
So I hope this app will enable you to create a Life in which you will be happy and creative.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR PRIVACY?

I think Privacy is a fundamental human right.
To that end, I have designed Life from the ground up without any external framework.
In this way, your data, like your birthdate, stays entirely private.

It would be 5 stars if I could live to 100!

Amazing app but why can’t I set the life expectancy to 100??

My life goals are to live to a healthy 100. Please please add this 😁

Simple yet potential life-changing

Thank you to Tim Urban for his powerful Wait But Why article and to Julien Lacroix turning it into an app / widget.

Truly you guys, you have my most heartfelt gratitude. It’s a shortish article, sure. It’s mainly about leaving the world a better place than when we found it, ok nothing brand new.

But I as I read, I cried - wept with grief, really - when I needed to, faced up to the fact that I was this far through my precious allotted time line a grown up (not one of those dang monkeys), accepted that although the waste so far was agonisingly painful and heavy with regret, it was not my fault, and finally, for the first time ever in my life, looked ahead at each of the oncoming empty boxes as an opportunity to flourish and either enjoy that diamond, or use it to make a future one (or someone else’s) more enjoyable (hopefully both).

Thank you for the opportunity to change my perspective.

Addendum: possibly embarrassed for writing so personal an app review, so I’m now going to go and read up on what this walrus guy is all about.

It would be great if…

I use this app widget on my home screen and look at it several times per day. Definitely puts my life into perspective and it looks really sleek. But unfortunately the highest you can put your life expectancy is 90. I had correspondence with the app owner who said he is unwilling to increase this, even with people living well past that now since he wants it to motivate people to live now instead of wait. While I understand this premise, it is also likely to lead to a lower life expectancy for those who use the app, due to them believing the constant reminder that they will die at 90.
