Lightweight PDF 4+

Just what I was looking for. Started with a scan of my tax return - 63mg down to 3mg in a second. No options, nothing to navigate, no copies to rename. Just drag the file from Finder into the tiny Lightweight PDF window and job done. The file stays where it is, same file name, new smaller size.

I copied the original to compare the old with the new and virtually no difference in quality. Even zooming right in, it's hard to pick.

I almost did't download this app because there was only one review. When I found out how good it is, I had to write the second.

As others said, it overwrites the original file, so make a copy if you want to keep the original. It's lightning fast and the image quality was much better than using Preview's 'Reduce File Size' filter.

This program does reduce a large PDF file sizes quickly, but it deletes your original file and replaces it with a greatly reduced file (with loss of resolution). Ther program needs to have options to compress files to any number of DPI which the user want the compressed file to be. Definitely make a copy on your computer of the original file as the program will over-write the original file - which you may regret.
