Mimeo Photos 4+

I have made 2 Mimeo books now, and while I prefer the old Apple books, Mimeo is currently the best compatible system I have found available in Australia. The quality is quite good and use of program is reasonably easy. There are several updates needed for basic things that would improve ease of use significantly though. Need to be able to remove photos from the photo bar at side, as most people (myself especially) place many more photos than will be used and until you’re actually making the album, unsure which are needed. They also do not place in order placed in starting album, so you need to search every time you want a photo, which is frustrating and time consuming. Also need to be able to add/move a single page instead of always a double. And photos need to be edited before being placed in photo bar to be used, as while it appears that you can adjust in making the book, some photos become distorted when printed. Had one book that I had to adjustby re editing photos and then order complete new book. Looked perfect on screen while making, came printed quite distorted. On the plus side delivery times were very good and as advised, and people are always impressed with final result.

I have now made several photo books with Mimeo and it is a great way to keep memories of our travel trips. All of the photos are on my computer and without the books nobody else can view them. My husband loves to browse them and relive those memories. I find the program pretty easy to use although at times a little frustrating, e.g. if I need to edit a picture (which is slow) when I return to the project I have to scroll through all of the photos again to get back to where I was selecting the photos from the sidebar. Also if I select to delete the used photos they appear again next time I look. I always have more photos in the sidebar than I use so that I have multiple choices and I always arrange my own pages. I find the photos print a little dark so need to lighten them in the project. My other gripe is that I am unable to view the differences in the formats before choosing a book. There used to be sites that gave all of the details for the apple books previously. However I love looking at my books and have many compliments about them, thanks.

I also was a devotee of the old Apple photo books and was hesitant over what to use next. The fact Mimeo integrates well with Photos made a big difference. There is greater flexibility that the old system for placement of photos and text ranging from completely self filling, through to you place everything just where you want it. Adding spell checking would be a bonus for me! It would be good to be able to delete photos from the whole project.
The end quality of the book was at least as good and probably better than the old apple product, albeit significantly more expensive. Arrived only 10 days after hitting send, so happy with that turn around.
I'd also completely agree with the comments about the freight to Australia. Hard to comprehend when Book Depository does it for free from the UK which is further away! Also, it's cheeky to have the estimated price while you're working on it not include the freight. As if you don't know where we are!
