Good app, but the odd bug can be disastrous

Everything about money pro is good except for one thing...

Bugs.

An app like this that holds so much information needs to implement better regular backup or a better ability to undo things.

Just then I was changing an income stream so that it would fall under a group, in doing so I noticed an empty duplicate of said income stream appear outside the group, so I deleted it and merged it into the original. But then after that I noticed the original had lost ALL its data, when I deleted the duplicate...

That’s years worth of data. There’s no way I can go back and add it again, I don’t have time.

Not to mention the odd random bugs that duplicate automatic transactions, or seem to miss-sync things from years ago, resulting in odd unexplainable changes to your balance in the present.

Besides that it’s good, but I’m fed up with having to deal with the faults of money pro. This should be easy, and better methods implemented to manage the data is crucial, since some of us end up with years of transactions. Better auto backup, better undo history.

Without that, I can’t recommend seriously recommend this app

Disappointingly inflexible

If you subscribe to get your transactions from your bank, then anything deposited to your account (other than a transfers) is classified as “income”. Sometimes it’s not income but, rather, a reduction of expenditure. Example: I buy something and get charged for it, so it’s an expense. So far so good. Then I get a refund from the merchant (full or partial) back into my bank account. The original debit is classified as an expense, the subsequent credit is treated as “income”. It isn’t. It’s simply a reversal of the previous expense item. But Money Pro WON’T LET YOU RECLASSIFY AN INCOME ITEM AS A NEGATIVE EXPENSE.

And the converse is also true. Example: I sell something on eBay, so the proceeds are income. All good. If I later have to refund to the purchaser, Money Pro treats that outgoing transaction as an Expense instead of a reversal of previous income. AND IT WON’T LET YOU CHANGE THE CLASSIFICATION ONCE THE DATA HAS BEEN OBTAINED FROM YOUR BANK.

Mis-classifying these reversals is skewing the reports, and simply isn’t good enough. Users should be allowed to classify transactions how THEY want, not according to how some backroom programmer THINKS they ought to be classified. It’s MY data, not THEIRS.

I’ve raised this issue with the developers TWICE in over a year. Still no fix. It’s not brain surgery, for heaven’s sake!

I won’t be renewing my subscription. Grrrrr! 😡😡😡

Such a good app for budgeting but can be buggy

Amazing app for budgeting but sadly it’s plagued with bugs atm. Please fix I don’t want to change app. As a multi-platform user (iPhone 11 Pro, iPad Pro 11” 2019 & 2017 MacBook Pro 13”) I have being using this for years to budget but of late it all platforms have had bugs from syncing issues to profile issues to crashing. If all the issues can be fixed it will be back to amazing again and I’ll be able to rely on it to make sure my budgeting is in check. Thanks.
