Description

Moonlight Mahjong is Mahjong Solitaire in virtual reality 3D, designed specifically for the iPhone and iPad. Intuitive touch control allows you to tilt and turn, zoom in and out to match tiles in 3D. Play “arcade style” with progressively difficult levels and high scores, or relax with one of the non-competitive game modes. The gameplay is simple yet addictive.

Moonlight Mahjong features four main types of play:

• Scramble Mode: Match tiles faster than the automated opponent "Tilebot" through increasingly difficult levels. The board is automatically reshuffled when you run out of matches, making this game mode easy to start and fun, yet challenging on the higher levels.

• Challenge Mode: Compete against Tilebot in full puzzle mode, with no automatic reshuffling, only undo. Challenge requires more strategy than Scramble. This is the ‘pure’ form of the game, but it is difficult!

• Puzzle Mode: Solve puzzle boards with no time limit. Choose any layouts you like. This is the original game mode, what people usually think of as Mahjong Solitaire.

• Relaxation Mode: Clear boards with no time limit and automatic reshuffling when out of matches. Perfect for when you're just not in the mood to strategize or rush.

Feel free to download the free Lite version with ads, or purchase the paid version without ads. They are the same game; the paid version has a few additional features.

Moonlight Mahjong is the original 3D Mahjong Solitaire on iOS, having debuted with the launch of the App Store in 2008. It has been played millions of times and was honored as a "Best Board Game" on the App Store.

What’s New

Version 4.0

Version 4.0 is updated to better support the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS.
- Added new backgrounds.
- Tilebot is now slowed down slightly when the player makes matches, giving the player a chance to catch up or get ahead if they’re “on a roll.”
- An option to start a game at level 50 in Scramble mode is unlocked when a high score of 1,500,000 is reached.
- Behind-the-scenes technical details: the app is now completely ported from Objective-C to Swift, and from OpenGL to Metal, and API use has been updated. This is to improve performance and keep Moonlight Mahjong working well with new devices and OS versions.

The further you go, the more disappointing

Been playing this game since it came out but finding that in the higher levels (70+) the game will not let you win very often. Also, when you lose and the game shows you the next matching pair, one of the tiles is inaccessible - I.e. you could never have selected it anyway. Very poor outcome from what has otherwise been a great game.

Really like this distraction game. I've enjoyed for a number of years. So have seen a few changes. Enjoy As a relaxation, distraction; took so Long to get finally over level 30. Had not played for a while as the version of being taken back three if robot beat me was driving me crazy. I do think that if program registers you being active and regularly trying, doing well in fact, especially after Level 30, that it does not automatically make them harder and harder, give the players a bit of a break, that feeling of finally getting over a milestone eg giving puzzles with over 300 even up to 400 tiles, but that gives puzzles so can finally reach level 40 and over..

Pros and cons

Love the game, the graphics etc but the down side is that the tile bot goes too quickly on the multi level large puzzles. We have to turn the puzzles in four different directions to find a match but tile bot does not have the same disadvantage. Otherwise good, clean fun for any age, but it would be better if there were degrees of difficulty in order to help the young, aged or people with poorer eye site or hand problems such as a tremor. Once you get past level 35 - 39, in scramble mode give up and play something else, because tilebot doesn't allow for the time we need to rotate the levels to find a match!
