Ratings and Reviews
This app did everything I needed. Download maps/tiles for offline use, leave a breadcrumb trail, and report my location to friends so they know my last reported position and the channel feature to share your position on map and see where other friends are in the same map.
I have some Topo maps which I want to import which I’m learning to do as you can download tiles from external servers. I need to work out how that is done with my current maps and if I accomplish that and it works fine on this app it’s a 5/5!
I use this app regularly, have done for years.
I stick it to my windscreen while driving, I record motorbike trips, (and the crazy antics of rail-replacement bus drivers), I check my speedo with it, my walking pace, I have offlined a bunch of maps where data isn’t available, etc etc. I’ve even used location sharing via ‘live updates’ to have public transport races. I have a gazillion campsites and other waypoints organised into folders so I can show any set depending on where I am or what I’m looking for. ...but ... for me. A tiny addition would help. If I could pre-plan a route by dropping pins (with add, remove, and re-arrange), that would be even sweeter. Basically that’s just a named array of waypoints with standard route-planning logic attached, so maybe not too much effort to add in?
Altitude will not show below zero
I love this App and have used all over the world. But I noticed in Death Valley that it will not show negative altitude. Just stops at zero. My basic iPhone compass app was showing the correct below sea level altitude.
