the only app to autoplay next file in directory

I used to use MPlayerX before it became malware. The one feature I miss by using something like VLC is to pick any file in a directory (e.g. TV series), play that, and have the Player automatically start the next one when the current file finishes.

Movist does exactly this well by automatically creating a playlist when you open any file in the directory, which you can manually move back and forward through, or allow Movist to automatically start the next file.

For this feature alone. I’m happy to pay for Movist & support the dev.

Keep up the good work Movist crew!

Mac will not go to sleep

With Apple Silicon, this app prevents the Mac from going to sleep until you right click and quit the app. Please find asap.

Proof: go to Activity monitor and View > Columns > Preventing Sleep
and you will see that Movist is the offending app.

Buggy, but UI is nice. Needs more work.

It's an okay app, but it's still very beta-esque, with constant crashes that appear when you pause a video or when you minimise/maximise it. The transitions from small screen to full screen seem laboured, with very obvious lagging going on (is this an effect? I don't think it is since all the other fullscreen animation transitions don't have them as well). It's a good app that matches quite well with the Apple UI, but still, it's these small bugs (the two mentioned here being the ones that annoy me to no end since they're done quite often) that make it only a 3/5 app. If only they could fix these problems, it would be a no-brainer as the go to replacement for Quicktime. Also, that icon really needs to be updated, hold a competition, anything, just update it!
