The application lets you evaluate using your full collection by creating a subscription trial, after which you can either keep the subscription, or you can cancel it and revert to being limited to 50 titles. As an alternative to the subscription option, you can choose to purchase the separate Pro version as a one-time purchase for that particular major version.

Love it 😺

I have used this app for quite some time and quite frankly I would be lost without it. Know what and where with my collection is so important when I hooks to watch a movie. Easy to use and navigate.

“Sync” is still laughably slow, drops out…

After 5 “Pro” versions of this app, why does it still take more than an hour for the app to download and display 1000 titles in my collection?

The app mostly works well for collecting, but the “synchronise” feature is just absolutely ridiculous at this point. I just paid for the latest version and it’s just as slow and ponderous as ever.

Why is it so slow to synchronise data to my phone? What is being synchronized to my phone in the first place? Why are we synchronising?

Why can’t the titles and their images just be downloaded/displayed dynamically from server, like any web service? We have high speed mobile internet. Why does this app even need to “sync” data to local storage on phone, at all? Because of large cover images? Why do I even need to see such large images on my tiny phone screen?

To make matters worse, the sync action often times out and requires multiple attempts to complete. And it cannot run in the background - the My Movies app has to be open and active in foreground, for it to continue. So you can’t use your phone for anything else until it finishes.

If you’re going to keep charging 20 bucks every so often for new “pro” editions, you need to get rid of this ancient “sync” design and make the app work with a more modern, faster architecture.

Hi. Our service is based in Denmark, Europe, and we are unfortunately seeing some specific Australian providers having a bad link to Europe, causing the sync to take longer than it does in the rest of the world - it is unfortunately not something we can change. It is a one-time process to sync your data to the new app, and it is a needed process to be able to filter between all data, which the local database data approach gives versus on-the-fly loaded data. This is not something that is going to change, as it would mean you would have a lot of features you would not have.

Messed up

It only sorts in alphabetical. So if the title was stuffed up when it was entered - this happens A Lot - forget it. Lots missing for Australia even major new releases so pointless. I got it because I liked the ability to scan a title in but I often end up having to add so much manually. I’m going back to my old database. It may take time to enter each title, but since I’m doing that anyway, at least it does the job better than this app.

The sync problem is hopeless too. I have good internet. I only have 1000 titles entered and this is only a fifth of my collection. Entering the other 4000 titles I doubt it would ever sync. Blaming it on geographical region is ridiculous. Everything else works down here.

Hi. All titles are indeed based on a sort title - you cannot combine an alphabetic sorting with a numeric sorting - being a community based service, there are situations where some users gets it wrong, despite it being documented how sorting should be, in which case you should report it using the report incorrect data function. There is also an option to customise the sort title in the personal data, if you prefer another sorting. If you have a title that is not available in our service, you should report it missing over creating it manually, as the title will then become available to all other users as well. In regards to sync speed, we do have reports of customers on certain Australian providers having a slow speed to our European based service, which we unfortunately cannot resolve - this is specifically regional, and when you mention that everything else works, that is either US based, or big companies who have hosting facilities in the area - we are not near big enough for that. The initial sync will take some time, but it is a one-time process.
