Apart from only being able to view in portrait mode only ( which I have submitted feedback on) this app has been awesome in our neighbourhood for many reasons. Our membership numbers are slowly growing and has given me back faith that we have neighbours willing to look out for each other and join together safely. I have read reviews about personal details showing but these are set by members and I believe as a “Lead” person that the security offered is top notch An app well worth using on a regular basis Well done developers.

Go for it if you want to give all your personal info away before receiving any value in this app. Email, address, phone number, and DOB all mandatory, and it asks for tracking location, your partner’s email, the emails of your neighbours, notifications on, permission to send emails on your behalf, then “make you first post”! All before even seeing what the app really has to offer.As a new user I stumbled across this app and don’t even know if it’s something I’ll find valuable yet. I just wanted to dip my toes in the water and try it out. Want to improve activation? Ask your users for less on signup and only ask permission for things like notifications and email permissions when the value can be realised. Build trust with users before asking for all their personal info.

SCAM ALERT -they send letters out using your identity

DO NOT SIGN UP - they will use your name without permission and send letters to your neighbourhood coming from you. I have had to help my mum deactivate her account and we have also reported and lodged and official case with our local police. My mum signed up thinking it was just a neighbourhood community group. However we found out through one of our neighbors that they received mail (as in an actual letter) asking them to sign up to Nextdoor and it’s signed off using my mums name. Needless to say, our family is super cross, shocked and outraged that a company is engaging in this kind of scammy predatory marketing and using the identity of its users to try and get more users on. Have flagged to my partner too who is a lawyer and will also submit a complaint to consumer affairs and the anti-scam watchdog.

Each week, thousands of Nextdoor members choose to send invitations to their neighbours as an easy and trusted way to build community in their local neighbourhoods. Every single invitation that is sent by Nextdoor is sent with the member’s permission. Nextdoor would never send something without a member's permission. I was approached by a fellow neighbourhood user ( not in the shire but in the bayside lga) after I expressed a wish to meet like minded seniors in my local areaHe turned out to be fishing, and I asked him if this was so, he said yes. The neighbourhood site is not a dating site which I mentioned to him however he continued to ply his tradeWe commenced a conversation of which I was interested to find out about a positive feedback companionship person.It soon turned to every text conversation ( he preferred that to talking???)being of a sexual nature/innuendoand then there was not much else to be engaged with him except that he loved hugs and kissesI stopped the conversation when we could not get further in our enlightenment of a genuine companionFYI I stupidly thought this nextdoor neighbourhood app was legit and not a platform for creeps
