Ngurrara follows the journeys of three young Australian Aboriginal Ngarluma men as they fish, hunt and carve their own stories. It is set on Murujuga (Burrup Peninsula), home to nearly one million petroglyphs, some over 30,000 years old. As the landscape, the people and culture change over millennia, one thing remains the same, the Ngarluma people 'were always here.'
The app includes:
- 30 pages of illustrations with sound, animation and voice overs
- learn Ngarluma language, with each Ngarluma word individually illustrated and translated into English
- carve your own petroglyph through the rock art carving application

Outstanding and Interesting
As a teacher in training, with a dream to one day teach with Australian Aboriginal students in an Queensland, this application has given me further insight to their history and their connection to the land. In regards to the app itself, I really enjoyed engaging in learning about the Ngarluma people and the story that they tell.
This is certainly on my resource list for my next practical experience
Authentic and outstanding
This is the best narrated aboriginal dreamtime story I have come across, whether in book or in digital content format. I love the original voice over and subtle introduction of local aboriginal words, the comic feel that is coming alive with authentic background sounds, and the invitation at the end to create your own petroglyphs. Just a shame that Burrup Peninsula is under threat from mining related activities!
Must have. Great 4 Aussie kids
An excellent digital rendition of a story as old as time itself? Cannot believe the quality, it is true interactive storytelling. A must have for every Aussie kid and the big kid in all of us. More please....
