Still only good for Splatoon

And even then, the Splatoon services could REALLY be better. It clearly has a lot more data on your stats (like amount of each king salmon defeated) but doesn’t give you that info, or will only give you a vague number. The monthly summaries on your weapon usages disappear once the season turns over, so good luck looking back at them if you didn’t get a screenshot. The exclusive gear is definitely the best part about the app, but god do I wish it would show what I currently have ordered when there’s a conflict. It shows what conflicting gear you already have in-game, but not in-app. Having the schedules there to see ahead of time is amazing, and the Home Screen Widgets are the only ones I use.

I did use the voice call service once with a friend, which worked *surprisingly* well, but we immediately went back to using discord when it started working again.

They could rebrand the entire app to be splatoon centric, and I don’t think anyone would know the difference

Just another review

As everyone else says. This app is only good as a splatoon companion. The app really shines as a companion app for both splatoon 2 and 3, seeing stats, schedule, gun usage, even crusty seans bike adventure where you use your hard earned turf inkage to get rewards. It’s brilliant!
But aside from that the app is useless. I don’t get why there aren’t similar companions for almost every Nintendo title? Where you can see stats and other little things. But as it stands there are only 4 titles. 2 of which are almost useless (though a proper animal crossing companion would have been great, stats, milestone tracker, more exclusive items, and so so much more). There could be mario kart, super Mario wonder, the legend of Zelda breath of the wild / tears of the kingdom, super Mario odyssey. Basically any and all Nintendo titles could use a companion app in one form or other. Keeping track of stats, exclusive rewards etc. This app could have been absolutely brilliant but Nintendo seems to have not even tried.
On top of all that there could have been so many other elements as just a general Nintendo switch companion. Surf the Eshop, message friends, hours played for each game, even an achievements system to get the most out of each game. This app falls far short of anything half decent. The Xbox and ps apps lack any game companion features to them but are far more competent than this.
I just don’t get why Nintendo couldn’t do more with this? It’s a no brainer.

Splat service

I’ve had this app since release, and literally the only viable use I’ve found for it is as a companion app for splatoon 2. Voice chat is easily outclassed by practically any other service, simply making a phone call makes a lot more sense. Most of the services available are even more arbitrary. I have the other games, and it’s literally pointless. You may as well just turn on your switch with everything else, but when it comes to splatoon 2, the app is amazing! Check for new gear, keep up to date on what maps and modes are currently being played, and check your stats, Nintendo at its finest. The real question is: why isn’t this just a standalone splatoon app? If it wasn’t for the splat content, this would literally be the most pointless app on the App Store, and that’s really saying something.
