Passport Photo App - PhotoAiD 4+

I was very skeptical about using this app because I read some negative reviews stating that photos weren’t accepted by Australian Passport Office. However as the parent of a newborn, this was my only option because there is no way that the baby would be able to face the camera directly without moving if I went to a post office photographer.

Taking the photo was a huge pain so using the app made sense and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Once I took the photos and submitted on the app, the background was fixed very quickly and I received my physical photos within a week. I had no issues submitting digital baby photo to Citizenship office. Australian Passport Office also accepted it without any issues and passport was delivered super smoothly.

Went through the process and paid for the photos for renewing an Australian Passport. I thought it was weird when they said they needed to “Photoshop” or edit the photo to make it work. I didn’t think this was actually ok with the passport office? Finally received the photos (late) only to be told by Aussie Post that they were not compliant. Wrong size, wrong framing of my face, and edited. So, I wasted my money and had to get other photos taken and make a follow up appointment….more time wasted. From an Australian perspective disappointing and a total waste of money.

Update after a reply from my review. : you replied publicly to my review suggesting you would resolve the issue and provide a refund and “please don’t rate our app low”….but you have never offered a refund. You only offer a very convoluted and impossible way of providing “proof” that makes a refund both impossible and unworthy. (Honestly, you want hours of work for $16?). At this stage refund is not the point. This app is a scam. You have never once tried to actually fix the issue or take action until you get a review. On looking at your reviews, most of your responses are similar, suggesting we are all equally ripped off and you are trying to manage your brand and marketing while keeping peoples cash. Despicable app and brand. I repeat. Do not use.

I went through the process of getting a photo through this app. Unfortunately it was rejected by the passport office and delayed the issuing of my new passport. Although they say there is a money back guarantee there is nowhere I could find on the app to actually contact the company so refund process is not straightforward!
UPDATE: I bought a second photo and it also was rejected ! I found the help message option on the app and send the rejection email from the passport office for a refund but the business required reasons why the passport office rejected it. I received an answer from the passport office and forwarded it too the app help service but they responded that I didn’t send the reason why (saying my message was cut off) even through the message from the passport office was clearly on their response (they just failed to scroll down to look at the entire message). DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS APP. 2 times the passport photo produced has been rejected by the passport office and they are dragging their feet to refund my money !
