Description

Petty helps Australian drivers find petrol nearby, and stay up to date with real-time prices and price trends. It's useful for when you're in an unknown location, or when you just want to check the price of petrol at the station up the road.

Data is available for NSW, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, and the ACT.

Petty stands out by using the most accurate data, collected by the state governments, and updated in real time as stations around the country change their prices at the pump.

Use Petty to find nearby petrol, view prices at a station, keep up with average prices and price trends for the last 90-days, and compare prices between stations. You can also see how much you'll save by filling up at one station compared to another.

The ACCC estimates drivers who time their purchases of petrol and choose to buy from the lowest priced retailer can save $10 to $15 per 60-litre tank. (news.com.au, 2017) Petty can help with this, by always keeping you in the loop with up-to-date prices.

What’s New

Version 7.1.1

This update fixes an issue where links to share stations wouldn't always work.

The previous update:
• Added pricing to the CarPlay station map
• Added tomorrow's pricing for WA stations (available after 2:30pm)
• Added the ability to share prices at a particular station with just a link, meaning Petty doesn't have to be installed for someone to view the shared prices.

More info on tomorrow's pricing:

Having access to tomorrow's prices takes the guesswork out of when to fill up. Petty will compare today and tomorrow's price for your preferred fuel type and give you a quick indication of whether you should fill up today. Note it's only available for stations in WA. Around 2:30pm local time prices for the following day are available to view in Petty. These prices take effect at 6am the following day.

If tomorrow's prices are available, they are viewable in many places throughout the app:
• On the Dashboard for your favourite stations
• In the stations list and search
• When viewing more details about a station
• When browsing the map in the app
• When browsing the map in CarPlay
• In the stations list in CarPlay, but only after tapping into a station. Today's prices are prioritised here still due to space constraints.

Hope you like this update. If you do, please consider leaving a rating and/or review on the App Store – it goes a long way to supporting Petty.

Pays for itself

There may be other apps that provide this data for free, but Petty is the best in class for finding the cheapest petrol near you.

Since moving out of Sydney, the variation in petrol prices I see has become more pronounced. Petty helped me find the perennially cheap spots for petrol and it saves me time when the prices are pretty similar so it’s not worth driving the extra 5km.

With the addition of a car play app, you don’t even have to touch your phone to find the cheapest dinosaur juice near you.

Accurate and local Aussie customer service

I have tried many other ‘free’ (add sponsored) apps that are good but Petty is by far the best. It’s clean and best of all spot on accurate. Having an app also on watch takes convenience to the next level when wanting to quickly find nearest petrol station.

The app developer remains passionately involved in developing and responds quickly to app suggestions

Five stars well deserved 👍🏼

Gone downhill

Was a good app but the developer has removed a lot of the free features to push the premium subscription, which it now spams everywhere.

Update: Developer says they haven’t moved free features to paid, must be a forgetful person. Previously you could add 3 favourite stations (now 1), 3 different notifications (now 1), view 90d/30d/7d/24h price history (now just 30 day). Most amazing of all is the app will no longer save your preferences (like it used to), it will reset them to defaults every time you open the app unless you pay for it! What kind of fuel app won’t even save a preferred octane…?

Developer Response ,

Most of what you've mentioned has always been behind a subscription.

Are you getting confused by the free trial? During which all the premium features are available. Or perhaps you purchased a subscription and let it lapse. Which is fine – Petty's best features are behind a subscription, and have been since the subscription launched.
