Do you need to get somewhere right now? It couldn’t be simpler with PickMe.
1. Fire up the app and make sure your current location is correctly displayed as your pick up location.
2. Enter where you want to go and get a fare estimate.
3. Select what kind of vehicle (Tuk, Nano, Mini, Sedan, Van) you want for your ride. An estimated time of arrival is also displayed to help you decide which kind of vehicle can pick you up the soonest.
4. Double check your payment method. You have the option to pay with cash or credit card.
5. If you have a discount promo code (we love giving those out!), don’t forget to enter it.
6. Lastly, tap “Book Now” and let us work our magic to get you a ride. Once matched, you can track the driver in real time with the driver’s name, picture, vehicle type, and vehicle license plate number clearly displayed on the app to help you identify your driver.

Pretty good - but not without a few glitches
For a newbie to Sri Lanka, we thought this would be the way to go for getting around- particularly as we aren’t good at haggling, nor do we like to. Also having it linked to credit card means you don’t have to faff around with having the right change.
Overall Pickme has worked pretty well with a couple of exceptions.
It appears that a driver can accept your ride, while still a fair distance away, and according to the app, appears to be going in the opposite direction to where you are - maybe finishing a fare?and yet for whatever reason can then cancel it. Meanwhile you have been waiting to be picked up and you can’t cancel without penalty until after five minutes of confirmation.
Also a few of the drivers don’t appear to ‘know’ about the credit card payments and will try to get you to pay cash.
And be mindful that there are some drivers who will completely ignore the app and map and head off in the opposite direction, either unaware of where they are going or hoping to take advantage of a stranger to their town - but this can happen anywhere. God bless Google Maps.
So keep your wits about you and it should work out fine.
You’re at the mercy of the drivers
I tried entering three different credit cards into the app and they all failed with an oops message
So then I tried paying cash, and for a ₹200 Reyed, I only had ₹1000 note and the driver refused to give me any change
Very useful in Sri Lanka!
Found it to be a lifesaver in Sri Lanka, avoids having to negotiate fares or try to navigate a driver to a place. Only piece of feedback I have is to introduce mechanisms to stop drivers from stalling so users are forced to cancel booked rides. I noticed this happened mostly with short trips.
