A bit glitchy but ......

...... overall the Pocketsmith system is quite awesome now I’m getting the hang of it on the desktop. However the App has me constantly re confirming the same transactions over and over again. Not difficult to do but unnecessary. The App needs sharpening up to work in conjunction better. I look forward to improvements as they happen. I won’t be removing it off my phone! 👍🏼

Finances gentle

The PocketSmith iOS app (as distinct from the typical web browser) is able to draw reports from unconfirmed (that is, not wholly cleared) transactions, but sadly doesn’t yet allow for custom date ranges.

PocketSmith itself is not a full-featured (read bloated) finance application, nor is it a basic budgeting app where a lot of maintenance work is required. It delivers as being an effective aggregator of transactions within multiple bank accounts (10 on the standard plan, more for a premium) and compares them with your very personal budget.

I’d start with the web-based Auto-Budget tool for it all to make sense. Once the category budgets and bank feeds are live (and this will take time and cost subscription money) PocketSmith keeps things in order with as little input as one desires. Affirmation messages and pretty graphs abound: my personal favourites are the forecast and the “Trends” graphic. But even the security derived from the service catching and categorising those bank transactions is fine.

I’ve found their customer service to be right on, too, and that can be rare and precious.

Can be great, but it’s not

The attraction of this app was the auto bank feeds, this has failed miserably after I moved my personal budget from another platform. Continually the bank feeds fail, then when they are running again transactions get imported incorrectly (income as an expense) the support team are responsive but can’t solve the problem as their hands are always tied as the need support from the 3rd party called yodel to fix anything. I have been waiting for 2 months, I’m still hanging on but my patience is wearing thin. A simple fix would allow the user to change the transaction from negative to positive but that isn’t possible. Essentially none of the other features work if your transactions have the wrong sign. My advice is to try again later once they sort out their issues.
