Pocketbook refugee hoping for more functionality

Sept 22 update:
Hey all, I wanted to update my review and say that the PocketSmith magic is all on the website. Skip the app and go online. The budgeting functionality is exceptional. No more spreadsheets for me. The online program is definitely worth the monthly sub, especially if you are tracking and updating budgets.

Hi, the mobile app is very poor, especially given this is an expensive subscription service. A priority addition would be comparing this months’ spending to last months’ spending, as a bar graph. Also total $ spent this month, last month, last three months, last six months, last 12 months. Also, comparing spending in particular categories - eg food this month versus last month. The budget screen needs a better at-a-glance display. I want to be able to check how I am tracking on spending at a glance, without having to go to the website to do this. Categorising transactions is clunky on the app too. Hope this feedback helps.

We appreciate your detailed feedback and we’ve taken it on board. The Sidekick app was always intended to be a companion to the wed-based/desktop app, as the complex functionality can’t be fully replicated in a mobile setting. However we’re always looking at improvements to the mobile experience, so watch this space.

The website great but the app needs work.

As previously mentioned the website is great but the app needs substantial work if they want to be a contender with any of the larger app developers. Again a lot of the websites functionality is missing here with the app particularly with sorting options, you can’t select individual or multiple banks to view if you are someone who does have multiple accounts this is frustrating. The website also isn’t ideally formatted for Mobile view so you should be using it on a desktop or tablet.

The perfect Pocketbook replacement

I’ve tried a whole bunch of budgeting apps since Pocketbook shut down and I’ve finally found the one - PocketSmith is infinitely superior to Pocketbook (and every other budgeting app I’ve tried). Well worth the subscription - I signed up via the website rather than the App Store.
For new users, a tip - the bulk of PocketSmith’s functionality is through the website, not the app, but the app makes a useful companion for everyday routine tasks like categorising items. For more complex tasks there’s the website, and the features/functionality available are incredibly rich. Nothing else I’ve tried comes close. Hopefully over time more functionality makes its way to the app, but it does enough to be useful when you’re on-the-go.
