Editors' Notes

Plenty of photo-editing apps come with filters, but Polarr can help you create your own. And you don’t need the eye of a professional photographer, either. Thanks to instinctive touch controls and a ton of built-in filters to use as jumping-off points, it’s simple to tweak your images to get the perfect balance of colour and light. For the shutterbug pros, Polarr goes deep and allows fine adjustments to saturation, lens distortion and a whole lot of other settings that we dabblers just pretend to understand.

This app is amazing.

First of all, I’d like to mention how crazy this app is. It just has soooo much !! And it’s mostly free. As a creator who has a lot of surrounding colour coding and making my feeds aesthetic - Polarr helps so much with that. And it’s just so easy to use and so friendly in the way everything functions. The curves, saturations and hues are just so wonderfully easy to work around and it’s easily one of my favourite features to work with considering with how much the app offers.
I also adore the community and how easy it is to get in touch with other creators, make friends and just being able to admire and use other peoples talent is just cool. Making filters and using other creators filters is simply amazing as it helps me to get myself to out there to make and work with different styles and ways to make my work pop and get exposure to new experiences
Not only that their app for filtering videos is an absolute game changer !!!
Easily 10/10

First class editing experience

I increasingly found myself turning to Polarr for photo editing on iOS, to the point that it is now all I use. It’s intelligently designed for quick easy editing, but with impressive depth.

I thought the Face editing feature was a bit of a gimmick, for instance, but have discovered that you don’t have to use it to make your subjects look like aliens. A quick subtle brightening of the eyes, some colour in the lips, and you have an image that looks a bit closer to the person you were trying to capture.

There are other delights. The range of masks, and the ease of applying them. The range of export options, and the ease of applying them. The filter selection system, which is a big improvement on VSCOcam. (That said, I’d like to be able to use my collection of VSCO filters in Polarr. Not always better, just different.)

Also, sharing from the Photos editing interface. And the fact that on the iPhone, I can do some really in-depth editing just with one hand.

I’d like some cloud-based sharing of edited images between the iOS and Mac apps, and some more B&W filters, but these are minor things. This is carefully crafted software, well worth supporting. Thanks for your fine work.
