Parents, therapists, teachers and users around the world recognise Proloquo2Go as the gold standard in AAC solutions. The app is used by people with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Angelman syndrome, and others with speech difficulties. The app is available in English, Spanish, French, and Dutch and supports bilingual use, so you can switch languages on the fly.
Proloquo2Go in action:
Learn and grow
Studies show that just 200-400 words make up 80 % of what we say. Known as core words, they act as the basis of Proloquo2Go’s research-based Crescendo™ vocabulary. Users can grow from single words to full sentences in the same app. Crescendo puts core words in consistent locations for easy access and motor-planning. The vocabulary works with AAC best practices like modelling (where you use an AAC system to talk with the user) to develop language skills. Crescendo offers no limit on language development with a 10,000+ fringe word vocabulary and customisable vocabulary levels. Finally, with Progressive Language, words are gradually revealed step-by-step, helping users learn words and their location as their communication expands.
Easy editing
Customising Proloquo2Go is a breeze! Quickly and easily add new words. Use the app’s built-in library of 25,000 symbols or use your own photos by taking pictures within the app or selecting them from your photo library. For users with fine-motor challenges and vision impairments, Proloquo2Go offers options like 23 pre-programmed grid sizes and accessibility settings which support switch scanning and Apple’s VoiceOver screen reader. Everything from appearance to access is customisable so you can make it your own.
Type and speak
Besides tapping images, Proloquo2Go also lets you type what you want to say. The app includes a Grid Keyboard arranged alphabetically for people learning to type. For more experienced typists, Proloquo2Go includes a Typing View with a QWERTY keyboard and word prediction that offers suggestions based on what you are typing.
Hello! ¡Hola! Bonjour! Hallo!
Proloquo2Go lets you select a language and region for the Crescendo vocabulary. Two languages can be used at the same time, allowing seamless bilingual speech. Over 100 included downloadable natural-sounding adult and children’s voices rounds out your choices to use the app your way.

Ratings and Reviews
Good, but…
I bought this for school, as two of our students, Nin (or Milayah) and Amber couldn’t speak. The price is a little bit high, but the Voice lineup is impressive especially in the tone of voice! However, I had an issue with one of the symbols when I tapped and held it. For example, I was having an issue with the “bad idea” symbol, as all it said when I held it down was “idea, ideas and others”. Please fix this. I did have a couple of other issues with the pronunciation but having that feature is ultra useful! I just wish that you had the voices I've seen on other voices ( e.g.Russell and Nicole) because I love those voices. Please add these. Also, if you guys can, please remove the profanity from the expressions section (not page) because it’s very inappropriate for school, and no students and teachers should trust it.
Developer Response ,
Hi Telstra NBN pro lava, many thanks for the five-star review! First, please know we are unable to reproduce the issue with the “bad idea” button in the Australian Crescendo vocab. To troubleshoot the issue, please email support@assistiveware.com and one of our team members will be happy to investigate with you. Next, Proloquo2Go uses voices from Acapela Group. If you would like additional voices, please send us an email mentioning the voices you would like to see added and the developer of the voices so that our team can log your feedback. This is the best way to request features and report issues in Proloquo2Go as our team monitors support@assistiveware.com seven days a week. Finally, we are very sorry that you are offended by the swears in the Expressions under Edit Mode. Please know that ExpressivePower™ gives AAC users of all ages the ability to express certain words with emotion, whether happiness, anger, surprise, etc. For more information on ExpressivePower, please see this article (www.assistiveware.com/blog/expressivepower). Note Expressions are only shown in Edit Mode and need four navigational taps to access. The Edit Mode can be restricted. For instructions on how to block access to editing, please see this article (www.assistiveware.com/support/proloquo2go/protect-share/hide-show-edit-options). If you would like to make the most out of Proloquo2Go, please be sure to check out our Proloquo2Go Help section (www.assistiveware.com/support/proloquo2go) and Learn AAC section (www.assistiveware.com/learn-aac) for helpful information on using the app and articles on implementing AAC best practices into your classrooms. We also welcome you to join our AssistiveWare’s Teachers and therapists AAC community (www.facebook.com/groups/256837297733511), where you can connect with other professionals and the AssistiveWare team for information on AAC topics and help with AAC roadblocks. We hope these resources are helpful! :-)
Fantastic speech synthesiser
A great useful app for when I want to make my car, house, video-game-spaceship or aircraft talk, or even just when I lose my natural voice for whatever reason.
(I don’t really use it myself for full social interaction, but was asked to test this app years ago for setting up for use by AAC clients. Decided to keep it since I couldn’t find a fault, and made a custom board for myself to give my car, house “A.I.” and video-game BioMechanoid air and spacecraft a voice.)
😊The updates have improved the AAC aspect of the app a lot! Great work, devs! Works perfectly on my tablet.
An additional voice idea: Another from Star Wars perhaps? “Darth Vader” maybe? (“Little Creature” sounds like Master Yoda, so I thought perhaps another Star Wars-like voice would be fun) ...
Also, some additional voice effects would be great; “Radio/Comms” “Robotic” that kind of thing? Especially being able to add/remove those effects from recorded voices. That’d be great fun.
Everything you need and continued support
I purchased Proloquo2Go in 2011 for my non verbal son and haven’t looked back. The AssistiveWare team listen to users and implement the necessary changes with many free updates that must take months to years of work. Once you buy Proloquo2Go there’s no more costs. If you learn the teaching strategies well and don’t just expect a user to start using it, it’s an app for a lifetime! Has made a huge difference in my son’s life. He can now communicate anywhere with anyone at anytime!
