A quiet achiever
I have had this app for ages….maybe over a year and didn’t really use it. It’s design and aesthetics were simple and didn’t inspire me to use it. But I recently borrowed a bunch of library books that were fast expiring and I needed to record the recipes I like. This app blew me away with the ease in which it transferred a photo of a recipe into a digital copy. After saving these recipes I went to my Pinterest board and started copying favourite recipes that I had pinned. Again, these digital copies were easy and fast to make. I also like the flexibility to edit the recipe, I added changes to the directions and recipe quantities that I commonly make. Then I raided my collection of handwritten and printed recipes that have been stained and had notes scribbled over them over time - now all safely saved and noted in the app. Many of these recipes I had adapted to use with a Thermomix, they are now all saved as a collection and can be found easily (not falling out of my folder in a disorganised heap).
I also love that I can save the recipes as a pdf to share with friends and family when they love something I have made.
Love this App
My husband and I have just started dieting and the hardest part is selecting meals that are healthy and tasty. Usually it takes a lot of time to organise the weekly menus making sure they are within calorie and points value for weight watchers. This app has saved the day! The initial set up took time to down load favourite recipes from WW online but now we have 130 and deciding on weekly menus is a breeze. I have included the points value in subject heading so calculating daily pts is easy. I have even downloaded photos from WW books. Moving across to a shopping list is easy and accessed from both my husband’s and my phone at any time. You delete as you purchase so the list is always relevant. One other really helpful feature is when you are working from your iPad to cook the app keeps the recipe up without going to sleep. This has always been a huge problem with online recipes. Also you can also get the App to randomly select a week of meals from all categories or even from your 5star favourites. Boom! Thank you Recipe Keeper you have thought of everything!
Brilliant!
This app is simply brilliant (and brilliantly simple). I have tried various recipe apps over the years and always tired of them pretty quickly. I looked at this and saw that it was reasonably expensive for an app, and a separate fee to buy the PC version, but thought I'd try the free version anyway. Within an hour I had purchased both the IOS and the PC versions. The savings in time and aggravation are worth it a hundred times over. And it's a one-off fee, not a subscription, so even better. This app is so great at importing and organising recipes. It lets you edit recipes and also add notes, a really good thing to do after you have tried out a recipe. The built in recipe resizer is brilliant, and the shopping list so easy to use. The layout on the screen is perfect whether using the phone or PC version. I also like the print layout, useful if you don't want your electronic devices in the kitchen. If you are an occasional cook, or a serious cook, get this app, it will change your life (probably not but you know what I mean)!
