I use Revolut as my main bank and was until the end of this month a metal card plan holder, I picked up the metal plan obviously with the fomo mindset for the metal card which I do adore, and up until recently have been making great use of all of the features that I could use, however what I find to be a big stink and ultimately what has led to me canceling my plan is the implementation of Revpoints and the subsequent removal of plan cash back. The points in of themselves wouldn’t be such a bad replacement for the cash back if it wasn’t for the fact that they are such a rort. Let’s look at gift cards for example on the metal plan. Say you want a $10 Woolworths giftcard, that’s 700 Revpoints and on the metal plan $3 spent equals 1 revpoint, meaning you’d need to spend $2100 Aud to get what Revolut considers to be enough points for a $10 card. That is horrible. Now all of the other features that are offered I will say from what I’ve experienced are pretty good although I can’t speak on their travel insurance. But if you want to sign up for a cashback program, don’t it’s not worth it. But if you want to use their investment services whether it’s crypto or stocks that’s where Revolut shines.
