Your weight fluctuates daily. In contrast to other apps Scelta compares weekly averages and shows your real weight progress!

If you have ever used a scale regularly you know this problem:
Your weight fluctuates from day to day and it’s difficult to say whether you gained weight, lost weight or just had a heavy day. Salty food, hydration status, sleep, stress, and hormonal fluctuations are just some of the many factors that can influence your weight heavily in the short term.

To know what’s really going on you need to compare averages to each other. - eg. the average of the last 14 days to the average of the 14 days before. The difference, also known as delta, between these time spans is a very informative indicator of what really happens to your body weight.

Scelta calculates this “scale delta“ for you and makes weight tracking approachable, meaningful, a lot of fun and incredibly motivating.

Data visualisation of the next generation:
• Your real progress: Scelta compares your average weight for the selected time span to the previous time span, eg. 7 days vs 7 days prior
• Linear regression instead of peaks and valleys: A line of best fit shows your actual weight trend graphically
• Reach your own goal: select eg. “- 1 lb per week” (or “- 0,5kg per week” depending on your local unit) and see at a glance how good you’re doing by taking a look at your adherence percentage
• Hear your weight: Swipe on the graph to see the exact value of a data point and its linear regression, hear and feel (on devices with Taptic Engine) the value of your weight entries (you’ve never seen, heard or felt your weight this way!)
• Scelta shows your total progress and how far you have come since you started your goal
• After setting a new goal (eg. a lean gaining phase after losing fat) you can still go back to older goals to see your previous progress
• See a graph of your goal adherence for every day since you first set your goal. Swiping on it reveals your weekly rate of weight change and how well you adhered to your goal in the 7, 14 oder 30 day average comparison on that day. There has never been anything like it before.

And because everything is more fun as a game:

Scelta integrates with the Apple Health app:
Scelta uses the Health app that is pre-installed on your iPhone to show already existing weight data and to save new entries. Because of this Scelta will ask you to grant read- and write-access to your weight data.
Your weight is only visible to you and is not sent or visible to anyone but yourself.
Achievements you unlock and points you collect to climb the leader boards are a result of how well you adhere to your goals and not your actual weight entries. The goal you set for yourself is not visible to anyone else as well.

Works for me

The hardest part of attempting weight change is dealing with the inevitable noise in data - OMG I went up/down 400g but I’ve stuck to my plan /broken every rule- which always tends to demotivate me -how can I know what works for me. This app is great because I can see if I am above or below the trend, if the trend is still in the right direction and the 3 time period options means that short term hiccups are not my only focus. It has given me a longer term view. The only thing I would love to see is that “compliance” with the goal could be set at “at least” a value e.g. at least 600g per week so that if you exceed your aim it still says you have reached 100% of your goal not that you are 73% compliant.

Hey Cherie! That's great to hear, this was precisely the idea behind Scelta!
Regarding your remark about setting an "at least" goal: First of all, I can definitely understand where you're coming from and will definitely consider your feedback. :) - One thing I wanna highlight here is that Scelta is a process oriented weight tracking app, not a goal oriented one. This was really important to me when designing Scelta and something that really differentiates Scelta from other weight trackers. Meaning you don't set an arbitrary number as goal to work towards, but rather a rate of weight change you want to see. Enjoying the process and living in the now is a really critical thing for longer or sustainable weight loss phases and being happy with where you are now and how things go. And this is also why overshooting on your goal is not considered being 100% compliant with it anymore. In the case of losing 800g instead of 600g per week it might still make sense, but if your goal is e.g. slowly gaining 100g per week in a "lean gaining phase" and you gain 300g per week you're not on the right track. The same is true if you have the goal to lose 600g per week and you lose 2kg per week. You're probably crash dieting way too hard in that case. To motivate you to slow down a bit Scelta actually won't give you any % in that case, although you have exceeded your goal by a lot. This is why I think an "at least" goal wouldn't really be a good fit for the spirit of Scelta. But as I said, a bit more leeway when setting negative goals and slightly overshooting might still be a sensible improvement. Hope you understand and thanks for your feedback!

An amazing app

I’ve been using Scelta for a couple of years now and I think it’s an amazing app. Not only does it record and track your weight but it also incentivises your efforts to reach that elusive weight goal. There are three adherence report screens, 7, 14 and 30 days which you can use to see your progress over the short or longer term. There is also an overview screen with more detailed information.

However, all is not roses. The app is sadly lacking in two main areas; it won’t produce printed reports and it will not sync with other devices. I have it on my iPhone and on my iPad and I have to enter my daily data twice to achieve any sort of synchronisation at all. It is a paid app so there’s really no excuse for this lack of versatility.

Hey Michael, thank you very much for your kind words and the long time support of the app!
Synchronization is tricky, because syncing Health data (which weight entries are) is theoretically not allowed by the iCloud usage terms. I'll see if there's still a way to do this with the newly introduced Core Data syncing functionality of iOS 13 and it's definitely something I have planned, although it might still take a bit with all the features I have planned for Treeceps at the moment. Printed reports is something that I'd love to add in the future as well, but it's also a feature that most users do not need (although I can see how it would benefit those who do need it very much).

Nice idea. Good way to monitor weight

Simple and works well. Nice on watch

Annoying thing is it forgets the last weigh in when adding a new one, so you have to scroll miles

Regarding the preselection of the last weigh in. Scelta should always preselect the average weight for the last 7 days when you add a new one. The feature is designed to minimize scrolling as much as possible. Would it be possible for you to send me some details under which conditions you have to scroll miles? I understand that scrolling miles is not the most enjoyable thing, so I‘d love to fix this for any one who might encounter this bug. Unfortunately I haven‘t found a way to reproduce this yet.
