So good but room for more.
My speaker is around 5 years old so if they’ve upgraded to Bluetooth connectivity as well in the meantime then my apologies. I love the speaker, it’s seriously awesome! But when the WiFi is out then we have a problem. The price point seems excessive however I’m a philistine when it comes to tonal changes and can enjoy music through a cheap car stereo as much as the most expensive sound system (my Sonos was a gift). I haven’t figured out how to connect it to my TV if that’s even possible either. So I guess for me, being able to have it connected via Bluetooth and WiFi as well as using it as surround sound (once I get a few more of them that is) would be the ultimate. Right now, we really enjoy our single unit as the household wake up alarm with our favourite tunes to start the day with dancing.
Unreliable connection! Always cutting out and searching for wifi
Had no issues with this until this evening when trying to play music. It's never been an issue connecting to my wifi but for some reason this evening it will connect to my wifi for a while and when I try to play music, it will play some songs but not others, then it will skip songs half way, then sometimes it won't even play songs (the progress bar doesn't move even though I can see there seems to be music being played when I go to the queue) completely unreliable now!!! Always says unable to connect to Sonos and will constantly search for Sonos. It works for a while when I turn wifi off and on but I can't be expected to keep doing that all the time.
Speaker is fine but the app is the worst
We have an older Sonos speaker, at least 6yrs old now. When we first got it, everything worked great. But then Sonos kept updating the app - like every month a new update. The constant monthly updates were frustrating, and over time the app was glitchy and stopped working consistently. Now it just doesn’t work at all (yep, I’ve tried re-installing) so now I just have an expensive speaker that I can’t use. Comparatively, I have a 10yr old Bose system that works like a dream - not a problem for the whole time I’ve had it - just plug in my device and play my music!
If you are purchasing a Sonos just be aware that Sonos relies on their app software to work, and if that stops working for you then there is very minimal support to get it going again. If you are ok to spend a lot of money every 5 years to update your speakers, then Sonos is the system for you! Otherwise, I think you can find a few better options out there.
