Spriggy is an award-winning Pocket Money app that families use together to build awesome, practical financial habits in kids. With 250,000+ Aussie members already, we’ve become Australia’s most popular Pocket Money app.

Parents and kids each download and use the app together, allowing kids (aged 6-17) to have
full control in making their own pocket money decisions in a safe, practical way. Teaching them powerful money skills at a young age.

What can Spriggy do for Parents?

- Automated weekly or fortnightly pocket money payments.
- Set and manage paid/unpaid jobs around the house as kids learn to earn.
- Set visual savings goals, teaching kids how to save, not rely on debt.
- Track spending as it happens with real time notifications.
- Transfer emergency funds instantly when needed.
- Lock or reorder a new card in app anytime.
- Get the kids excited by our fun prepaid card designs.

Why do kids love Spriggy?
- Pocket money on time, every time.
- Learning to save for the future.
- The opportunity to earn extra with Spriggy Jobs.
- Spend money where they want to, online and in-store with payWave.
- The independence to make their own choices, like an adult.
- Fun prepaid cards with our original designs or a Super Hero design

Most importantly, kids learn that money doesn’t grow on trees and the money of today, digital money, becomes tangible. Kids quickly start to understand that ATMs and tap & go aren’t endless sources of money – realising the real value of modern money.

Families tell us that when they set up weekly or fortnightly pocket money payments, their kids learn quickly that when their pocket money runs out, they have to wait for the next payment before they can spend again. With this new independence, they will make mistakes, but that’s how they learn. Better at age 8 than age 28.

Soon they will be putting their pocket money towards reaching savings goals, teaching them great habits, young. With Spriggy Jobs, they’ll also be learning to earn through hard work.

We asked our members and nearly 80% of parents have noticed a positive change in how their kids handle money already and over 60% of kids are finding it easier to save.

What our Spriggy families have to say:

"Spriggy has taught my daughter the values of house chores to earn her pocket money. I have never had such cooperation from my daughter before I'm not having to repeat myself when asked to do something." – Melissa, Spriggy Mum.

“Ella is enjoying the challenge of setting savings goals, and being able to watch her balance grow is a huge motivator. She feels so proud of herself when she can buy herself something special.” – Courtney, Spriggy Mum.

“A Simply awesome way of teaching children about money in the Internet age.” Angie, Spriggy Mum.

“Ollie was SO excited when his Super Hero card arrived. You should have seen his face when I told him he was one of the first kids to get one!” Jane, Spriggy Mum.

Getting started is easy, sign up online or in our app in minutes and your kids personalised prepaid cards will be in the post in no time!

Spriggy is on a mission to help raise financial literacy in Australian kids. We are an Australian business, fully independent from the banks, with the goal of educating kids about money in an increasingly cashless society. We believe that life’s best financial lessons are taught, practically, as early as possible.

The reason Aussies families love Spriggy is because it’s not just a place to keep money like a bank, rather it’s a place for kids to experience money in a safe way that gives them the independence to learn - practically. Worth much more than a couple of bucks in interest.

Learning how to gain financial freedoms, one responsibility at a time

I have discussed the importance of financial independence with my daughter from a young age but it’s a hard concept to learn when every thing she needs, she has to ask for from an adult. Spriggy gave us the ability to help her identify the amount of effort she puts in with the financial gain available to her. She has tasks to carry out that earn nothing as these are part of contributing in life, and if she doesn’t do these, she doesn’t get payment for any of her earning tasks. Once she has earned the money, it is her choice how to use it. We monitor those choices which Spriggy makes easy to do, and we discuss them if it looks like she might need some guidance. Overall Spriggy has been a very valuable way to help guide my daughter from her tweens into her teens, with some real autonomy and agency in her financial life.

Developer Response ,

It's fantastic to hear that Spriggy is helping to make teaching those vital earning, saving and spending skills easier and that the oversight it provides parents along with the independence it provides children is proving to be a winning combination. Thank you for sharing! - Kindest, Team Spriggy.

Great app but flaws...

Edit: DO NOT USE!!! They have cancelled our account because clearly they do not speak English and understood “we will probably have to switch to an alternative solution” to mean please cancel account. Because I was Enquiring about the possibility of having a message on transactions. Now I have no idea how much money each kid had, no record of transactions, my kid can’t buy his lunch at school. All because these idiots don’t speak English!!!!

We really like this and have been using it for a few years now. However there are some major issues around paying / reimbursing the kids for things. It is not possible to write a note or message when transferring money to them. This leads to arguments about whether or not they have been paid or reinbursed for things. A simple option to write a message would solve this. Also there is a delay in when transactions are posted as leaving account so if you ask a kid to go to grocery store and then pay them back straight away, the dates won’t match up which also leads to them questioning whether they have been reimbursed.

So good

About 12 months ago I went into one of the big 4 banks wanting to set up 2 accounts for each child, 1 account for saving and a second account for spending with a debit card attached. I had to jump through so many hoops, set up the accounts in trust, and needed to sign special permission forms for my under 14 year olds to have debit cards. They KNOW society is nearly cashless, yet the idea of teaching your kids how money works without using coins, a money box and a passbook all seems foreign to them. It took ages to set up, (the paperwork!!)the online banking for the accounts is clunky for us all to use. I wish I'd found Spriggy 12 months ago. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for back then. Spriggy is working a treat - the kids are learning, I'm not forgetting pocket money anymore, the convenience is excellent and it looks, feels and just works in the modern world.
