Ratings and Reviews
Great game but could use slight tweeks
I love this game. Honestly it is probably my favourite offline game of all time. However, there are two problems. One is consistent with all stick games, which is that it is very much so based on people spending money, with so many facets of the game relying on you to splash some cash. The second problem is the serve and power ratings for players. Milos Raonic is ranked like 14th in the AUS open, and because of this is serve and power are weak. For example, his serve is unable to break 110mph without buying a racquet, yet Djokovic’s serve can easily break 130mph. I know for a fact that Raonic has the most powerful serve currently on tour, so that doesn’t make sense. Thanks for reading
Obnoxious Ads and Frustrating Gameplay
This game has gone downhill since the days of the Stick Tennis website. If you’re up against an opponent who is slightly better than you then you’re pretty much stuck with making cross court shots for the entire rally because if you play a down the line shot, your opponent is magically able to hit the ball into the open court and for some reason, you’re never able to chase it down. Not that this game is super realistic but this leads to unrealistic 50 shot rallies. If you try to serve down the T into the deuce court the ball never hits the T and just goes into the hitting zone of your opponent so you’re forced to hit the serve wide constantly. It’s not a gesture issue though because I can easily hit the T when serving into the ad court.
Same goes for other shots too. If you try drop shots or anything that’s not aimed at the baseline, your opponent is able to magically hit a winner off of it.
I get that freemium apps need ads but the ones in this game are just obnoxious. You have to sit through one 20/30 second ad for a game which is fine but then it moves to another “demo” ad about the same game and that has yet another 10 second timer on it that you can’t skip.
The rackets are poorly priced and though I was tempted to buy one in the hope it’ll make the game a bit more enjoyable and support the devs, I chose not to because it just encourages poor design choices.
DON’T PLAY THIS
I installed this game a few years ago and hadn’t played it for a while. A few weeks ago I tried to play a game and every single thing in the game was so laggy that 1 shot could take a full 10 seconds until the next, and even when I was patient enough to waste my time doing this my player would miss even when I swiped just because of the sheer lag. I downloaded some other games by stick sports and I had the exact same issue. I know it is a problem with stick sports because none of my other apps or any other part of my iPad has been affected by this. I really hope that this will either make stick sports fix their games, or to convince the player not to download it, but nothing I did on my iPad such as turning off and on, deleting apps, waiting a few days before going back to it did any help at all. So please don’t waste your space downloading this app.
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a better experience with stick sports then I did.
