Friendly competition with a like-minded sporting community is a big part of Strava's appeal. More than just a GPS, Strava shares your rides and runs automatically, so it's really low maintenance. See your rank on your favourite segment, join distance challenges, and follow your friends, pros and even foes. As they say, "If it’s not on Strava, it didn’t happen".
A bit expensive and the UX/UI can be confusing

No doubt that Strava is the expert at providing the best data analytics when it comes to running, cycling or swimming. I love the segment feature, comparing myself against others friends (or foes!) and challenging myself everyday. The UX can sometimes be hard to navigate and understand. I navigate the app through muscle and visual memory rather than relying on the UI and names within the buttons. After using this app for years, my mate the other day showed me how to look at my overall “effort” over the past year. I had never seen that feature and it still takes me a while to navigate back to the page. Overall the app is mind blowing, their services are great and I haven’t seen any other app that can be used to compare my own performances vs. the others. UX and UI need to be worked on a bit more thoroughly though.
Mainly Great

There are so many great things about Strava and anyone who has used it will be familiar with those things. But rather than list all those many reasons why I have a Strava account, I’d like to make one negative observation and one recommendation. Observation: There are issues that some people experience with the map features that have persisted for me personally for at least 6 months. The Strava team is aware of it, but as yet it is unresolved. My personal experience is that when I try to plan a route, the map is blank and therefore this function can’t be used. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting suggestions that the Strava community and Strava team have suggested without success. A friend of mine has another issue where at the end of a ride, his Strava map shows the journey as a straight line. The actual distance is correct in his stats, so the Strava app is obviously collecting correct data from his GPS. The Strava team have told me that being a small team means that they cannot respond to all issues as quickly as they would like. Recommendation: Make Strava a subscription app for the features that are currently free. I have only ever had a free account because I don’t need the Features that a Summit subscription provides. However I would happily pay a reasonable fee for what I am currently getting free of charge. If this extra income generated meant that Strava would be better able to respond to issues like the map issues I’ve mentioned, that would have to be a win for all!
Amazing App! One Recommendation - Target Pace Tracker

I have been using this app for a few months now and am a premium subscriber and absolutely love everything about it, completely changed my life and I would recommend it to anyone just entering the running scene or even years in.One suggestion that would greatly help me and Im sure many others that don’t yet have a Garmin or watch is a target pace feature where you have the option to set your target pace for each kilometre in the run you plan to do and when you go off this pace the phone vibrates indicating you’re either going to fast or too slow. Im not sure about everyone but I know this would help me monumentally at getting new PBs as I’m not yet in the position to get a watch.
AirPods Pro 3 Heart Rate: Now when you wear AirPods Pro 3 during a workout, Strava can stream your heart rate live to Mobile Record -- straight from your ears. Pair them with Apple Watch and both devices work together, automatically picking the strongest signal so you get the most accurate reading whether you're running, riding or lifting. No extra setup, no extra gear, just press record. Requires iOS 18 or later and AirPods Pro 3.
