Really engaging!

It's not quite in the league of A Dark Room, but this prequel is pretty great. It took me a while to work out, and a longer while still to finish. Warning: it's very frustrating at first - stick with it and it starts to make more sense... Probably best to play after finishing A Dark Room.

Punishing??? Indeed!!

So, yes in the beginning I thought this was difficult, and many months had passed since I played, but I picked this game back up and persisted in finishing it, turns out it's not actually as hard as it initially seemed... But overall I'd have this to say. To Armir, you have created 2 of the most detailed, and intricate games I've played of the last 5 years, and though it is only text, the work, time and effort you've put in to ADR and The Ensign, fully shines through. The story is impeccable, the gameplay mechanics are fluid and extremely well thought out, and overall... It's interesting and challenging all at the same time, whilst always keeping me captivated. So I thank you, these 2 games have become 2 of my highest ranked ones of all time. You give me hope for future games!!!! Never stop creating

For those who need a challenge

This is not a one for casual gamers who like all the hard work to be done for them. There is nothing to hold your hand. You’ll die at least 5 times at the beginning while the game mocks you mercilessly. A great deal of effort, persistence, strategy, attention, and personal investment in the plot are required to get the most of the Ensign.

That being said, I’m an older-school gamer and usually need to finish everything I start. I was hopelessly hooked from the beginning. This game is superbly challenging and punishing. When you finally rise to it, the level of satisfaction is second to none. I’ve beaten it around 4 times in full and still enjoy coming back for more. There’s really nothing else like it.
