Description

We all want to be happy in life and The Resilience Project shows you how practicing gratitude, empathy and mindfulness can help you become more happy!

Schools, corporate groups and the biggest sporting teams in the country including AFL and NRL clubs, the Australian Diamonds and the Australian Cricket Team are all practicing the principles of The Resilience Project.

After spending time volunteering in an Indian village former teacher Hugh van Cuylenburg was inspired to create The Resilience Project, which educates Australian parents, children and organisations about the importance of gratitude, empathy (compassion) and mindfulness. “In this desert community, there was no running water, no electricity and no beds; everyone slept on the floor,” Hugh says. “Despite the fact these people had very little to call their own, I was continually blown away by how happy they were.”

The Resilience Project delivers programs to a range of organisations including elite sporting clubs and primary and secondary schools. In addition to the presentations schools receive they have the opportunity to complete a curriculum specifically designed to focus on what you have as opposed to what you don’t have, understanding the benefits of helping others as well as the importance of being healthy and active.

User friendly for all ages and technological abilities

This app is great and focuses on the ‘gem’ principles without getting over complicated. I would suggest having the capability to be able to access your profile on numerous devices. I downloaded it onto my iPad first then later onto my iPhone, but the accounts didn’t link so I’m relying on always having my iPad to enter my daily updates. After all we don’t want to miss our runs of regular entries by having separate profiles on different devices.

Easy fixes to make much better

The app doesn’t live up to the stellar heights of the audio book. Not clear on 1st section if you do all three in that section or if you do one at a time. Insert photo doesn’t allow you to choose photos from whole album. The empathy section was just weird and talked about doing a screen grab but nothing about what to write about and why would you send a screw grab to someone else. The meditation section was again super unclear. I chose a 9 minute with partner and it was about getting home from work and understanding each other. The headline doesn’t tell you this and it just wasted 9 minutes of my life and frustrated me because the whole experience was so unprofessional compared to the book. I work in Marketing and all I can say is that this App is really bad for your brand. These things are easy to fix but at the moment the App makes your whole product come across as unprofessional and therefore unreliable. I wish I just stuck with the book. Please fix this.

Great reminder- especially when things are so tough in lockdown

I hadn’t Used this app for awhile, but have read the resilience project and subscribe to their emails. After struggling in lockdown, and with a recent disappointment on missing out on something I really wanted I was inspired to pick this up again. Practicing the GEM principal's makes a difference on my mental health significantly.
Thank you for this. Also I should add I heard Hugh on the 3pm pick up and he suggested an activity about acceptance. Write down all the things worrying you at the moment. The ones you can’t control you put a strike through. Don’t waste your time on these ones- they are out of your control & the sooner you can accept that the better.
