Toyota Link 4+

This app has always been a cheap basic app. Always dealing with app updates, issues and fixes. Doesn’t provide much in the way of information that you couldn’t get from google, and without the issues. My son in law showed me his app for his Ford Ranger… Now that’s an app. Put some money into the app Toyota and raise the bar.

It’s an average app you can preload addresses while sitting on your couch so when you jump in car they are ready to go. They do an update and fix problems. Then do another update and add a whole fresh set of problems. I wish I hadn’t auto updated this app. The current issue is when you load an address, when it appears onscreen it only shows the suburb, not the house number. So I have to check the address I loaded. It also says this has been sent to car and will start on next trip. That is not correct. It is simply loaded as before. At least this update has no spelling errors. This is a world wide company that can’t make a car app work sheesh

Rented a Yaris today. Great - big 7” touchscreen. Where’s the CarPlay I wondered, so I could use my phone to navigate? Realised you had to download a Toyota app. No clear app to download on App Store, so picked the one by Toyota Aust.

Opened the app - just a frigging glorified Here maps app, with NOTHING of useful function otherwise. So typical of Toyota to take the populace for granted and give them as little as possible, because “Toyota sells itself you see?”. Well not me, just consolidated my disdain for this sort of corporate arrogance. Much better value cars out there and yes, often as good or better ownership prospects and reliability (I can vouch for this with my 2013 Hyundai).
