Description
The app makes it easy to play a recording of an interview while you type a transcription of what was said.
Important note: This app does not automatically transcribe the speech for you - it's a utility to make it easy for you to type up what was recorded.
Using a set of keys that are not normally used in transcription, a typist can pause, go back, replay and even play at a slower speed without changing the pitch.
The keys to control play are configurable and the amount of slow down and number of seconds to skip backwards can be set.
A timestamp of how far through the recording can be inserted into the text.
Resulting text can be exported to plain text.
The document includes the audio recording so the original doesn't need to be kept after importing.
Application help has more detailed information including how to use macOS dictation.

Perfect for transcribing difficult text

The microphone indicator works but there is no response when I speak, even though a check on the sound preferences indicates that my speech is recognised.
No, I do not have the text editor active. I presume you mean I need to open the program called Text Edit at the same time as Transcribe Helper?
Whe you say I need the text editor active, do you mean the app called Text Edit?

This is perfect for transcribing, simple and easy/. Drop the audio into it and use keys on your keyboard to go back, pause or slow down. all I need now is a foot pedal and I feel like I'm back in my legal secretary days!
A great help and simple to use
I'm transcribing interviews recorded as part of my research and this program is a great help in doing this job. Recommended for anyone with interviews to type up.
