What’s New

Version 5.15.16

The eclipse has passed. The sun has incinerated the last remaining snowflakes of Canada’s winter. Which means Montreal’s super cyclists have escaped from their exercise-bike-equipped basements and taken back the smooth tarmac of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve from the F1 racecars. Sometimes we ride down on our fixed gear bikes to watch the roadies pedal in circles for hours and hours in their skintight suits, like they’re training to be the prettiest horse at the Kentucky Derby.

Back home at Transit HQ, we’ve made the usual spring cleaning adjustments, and more:

- We’ve added bikeshare fare info to the app (in select cities, more to come) so you can see how much a ride on those metal tanks will run you
- New iOS emojis have been christened and added to our GO nickname generator
- Real-time data for nearby lines should now load a picosecond or two faster (by prioritizing downloads for visible lines first, and then downloading real-time for ones further away as you scroll down the list of lines)
- Other bug fixes and aerodynamic improvements

Rate us five stars to put Sriracha in the roadies’ bike bottles for extra motivation.

Editors' Notes

Lots of apps can offer driving directions—but what if you’re not driving at all? That’s where Transit comes in. The travel planning app shows you how to get from point A to point B via train, bus, rideshare—and now even bikeshare and scooter. The app will seek out your best route, offer a few alternate options, and let you know how long you can expect to be in transit.

best public transport app ever until these bugs…

i’ve used transit for the past 3ish years to get to and from work. i don’t own a car so public transport is essential to me and this app has been WONDERFUL until about a week ago. when using the go feature now at around 20 minutes before the bus, the bus will just disappear?? it won’t show up when i search for it or allow me to track it, literally just disappears off the app. this proves quite annoying when planning trips and sometimes it comes back, sometimes it doesn’t. please please please fix this bug as i’ve almost missed my bus multiple times because of it and have to leave at least 10 minutes earlier to ensure i am there on time. other than that this app is amazing and i would recommend it to anyone who relies on public transport :)

Nearly the best public transport app

Transit is a great app but the largest downside of the app is that we just need some more users if we are ever going to be able to properly experience the crowdsourcing feature, as in Melbourne, I don't think that I have ever been waiting for a bus which has been crowdsourced, which I feel kind of defeats the purpose of the whole app. However, that is not going to stop me from giving ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 stars) as the rest of the app is really convenient. Some of my favourite features are:
How easy it is to view next departures;
“GO”, the notifications from it are really useful and the way that it counts down the stops until it is time to get off is also very helpful to help prevent stop-missing!;
The fact that even without reported bus locations, the app can work out (about) where the bus is, based on real-time data.
Overall, I give about 9/10, and a green heart. 💚
