Released on the very first day of the AppStore in July 2008, TRISM's legacy is one of rags-to-riches success. Created by indie developer Steve Demeter, the phenomenal success of TRISM allowed Steve to pursue his dream of game development. Steve's story has inspired developers all over the world, as told on Good Morning America, CNN, BBC, The New York Times, and others. Apple itself filmed a documentary on Steve, and presented it at the start of the iOS 3.0 keynote in Cupertino.

Very polished and great fun

This is a very absorbing and enjoyable game with a good variety of play modes.

The built-in tutorials are smoothly executed and the difficulty level ramps up gently to keep you challenged without making you feel overloaded. The hinting system is subtle but useful: if you get stuck just look for the twinkling piece for a clue on what to do next.

Excellent use is made of the touch screen and tilt sensor in a way that is integrated and natural to the game-play. The three game modes use the same basic principles while being quite different in character:
- “Infinism” is the standard play mode
- “Terminism” lets you play against the clock
- “Syllogism” requires you to use just the tilt sensor to solve the puzzle in the minimum number of moves

It seems that all aspects of the game have been well thought through. Interruptions to play are handled gracefully and flexibly: you can continue where you left off or start a new game.

Presentation is uniformly excellent and an online high scores let you see how badly you’re doing compared to the best players in the world (but you don’t have to look!)

Trism is a great game for relaxing in a spare moment as well as showing off your iPhone or iPod Touch. This is the way mobile games should work.

Trism

Very good but I need information on how best to play to maximize score and also what the terms mean e.g. Trism

Best puzzle game so far

With all the typical block-matching puzzle games filling up the app store, it's nice to see something original that actually uses the tilting and touching functionality in an original, natural way, instead of trying to shoehorn those controls into an existing game. This is the kind of game that actually justifies the iPhone as a real gaming platform, so I hope we see more original games like this. The great price is just icing on the cake, but you can't turn down value like this.
