Ultimate Guitar: Tabs & Chords 4+

I have tried dozens of different music apps for many different instruments such as guitar, bass, piano etc. and this app is undoubtedly the best one out there — it’s nothing short of perfect. You can get chords and tabs for any instrument on the score. Whether it’s rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass, ukulele, piano and even drums, it literally has it all there for you! I’ve had this app for a little over a year and it’s literally changed my whole music. I went from knowing NOTHING about guitar, to being able to play 95% of common chords in less than a YEAR. Anyone who wants to learn guitar, THIS IS THE APP FOR YOU. Instead of scrolling for ages through the internet trying to find chords and tabs for songs you want to learn, Ultimate Guitar has done the hard work for you. You can also publish your own scores on the app and it’s very intuitive; It finds the lyrics almost instantly and translates the chords for you. The free version works amazing, and Premium is even better. For a very cheap of $20 a year I 100% recommend it. It isn’t fair to not talk highly about this app after everything it’s done for me. I recommend this app to any musician or non-musician who plays guitar, bass, piano or ukulele. Unbelievable from the developers.

I’ve been using UG by default for over a decade now both on the app and the web and to me it’s really the only option for quickly finding tabs and chords charts for pretty much any songs you’d ever want to play, with a perpetually expanding catalogue and great news sections and forums to engage with other musicians online.

I do have a couple of small complaints, however, those being that in the search bar even the slightest misspelling will yield no results at all, and that the default autoscroll speed is uncomfortably quick for most tabs (most of my saved tabs had to be readjusted to ~0.7 speed). Also, as a contributor of a handful of tabs, it can be frustrating to have a tab submission rejected on the basis of “edits of other’s submissions with minor changes will not be accepted” seeing as many user-submitted tabs are so close to perfection, and would be with some very minor renditions.

Overall 10/10* app, I always recommend to my students / fellow musicians who don’t already know about UG. If you have the means I would also certainly recommend purchasing the full version, too.

I paid for a life time membership when Ultimate Guitar started up the app. Like other loyal UG users I feel ripped off at losing years of fine tuning my list of songs and developing a collection. I was able to contact you on the occasions I was asked to sign up due to upgrades and you were very supportive of old customers who had the original life time membership, reinstating me when this was needed. This time with out any warning about what was going to happen, you have shut me out and I have no other way that I can see of contacting you to ask you to honour your commitment to original customers, who paid to have the life time membership and believed in your product when you first started up. Perhaps you need to look into your records and make amends with life time members you have conveniently forgotten about.
