Description

Vim is a text editor first released publicly in 1991. Based on the vi editor common to Unix-like systems, Vim is designed for use both from a command line interface and as a standalone application in a graphical user interface. Vim is free and open source software and is released under a license which includes some charityware clauses, encouraging users who enjoy the software to consider donating to children in Uganda.

I like it

It also includes the encryption function, so I'm happy with that. I agree that "\" as ESC is a bit of a pain (doesn't take too long to get used to it), but it would be nice to have an extra bar above the keyboard with ESC and arrows (especially for an iPad where there is more room).

The other things that would be nice are DropBox (etc) integration, and Copy/Paste functionality.

Still great for the price :-)

Great idea, but needs work

I love the idea of having a VIM on my iPad. As other reviewers have pointed out, the app can be improved by deeper integration with iOS. Critically, my folio keyboard really doesn’t work with the app, with keys periodically becoming non-responsive. Since the development appears to be largely stalled, would the developer consider making the project as an open source? I doubt this will ever be a huge money maker, but could attract a small motivated community of developers.

Great start

MacVim is my favourite text editor so thanks for going to the trouble to port this! It supports multi-tasking so it would be a huge improvement if iOS copy and paste was integrated. Then it would be so much easier to copy the contents of .vimrc prefs file for a start. It can only get better from here on in ..
