XRS™ Connect - A New Era In UHF CB Radio
XRS™ Connect is an Australian Made radio platform designed to be smart, adaptable and rugged. Featuring a professional grade speaker microphone complete with a class leading 2-watt speaker, customisable buttons and a high contrast OLED screen guaranteeing a crystal clear, anti-glare display.
Enabled by Bluetooth® wireless technology, XRS™ Connect is the first of a new generation of connected UHF CB radios with unique features never seen before. They are the first ever UHF CB radio with app control, and as with many other smart devices, XRS™ Connect products are software upgradable via the apps, keeping users up to date with the latest features and technology.
XRS™ Connect
The XRS™ Connect App combines easy to navigate menus to control the features and settings of your GME XRS™ Connect UHF CB radio.
With a quick swipe of the finger, you can quickly create and share your personalised scan lists, access over 20,000 Australian and New Zealand registered analogue frequencies including Police, Fire, Volunteer Rescue and many more and receive free software upgrades.

XRS™ Connect Location Services
XRS™ Connect Location Services enables users to send, receive and display their GPS location with each transmission. Combining the power of XRS™ Connect UHF CB radio with the GPS engine and display of a smartphone or tablet, enabled by Bluetooth® Smart technology, XRS™ Connect Location Services creates a whole new world of possibilities for UHF CB radio. Users are also able to send, receive and display a short text ‘status’ on the tail of transmissions, selecting from either pre-defined or user-defined statuses.
XRS™ Connect Location Services offers offline map caching, giving users the option to download and store detailed maps – ensuring accurate map display in areas with no cellular coverage. XRS™ Connect Location Services enables users to log and save an unlimited number of points of interest using the intuitive user interface – perfect for asset mapping on large properties and revisiting those ‘secret’ spots in the 4WD.
XRS™ Connect Location Services displays the user-designated ID or 'tag' of each XRS™ radio within transmission range, allowing easy identification and tracking of multiple users. Create custom groups to easily manage contacts and filter display results.
XRS™ Active Mute
XRS™ Connect Active Mute allows users to manually mute the radio when receiving a phone call to their mobile phone. The XRS™ Connect App is able to detect incoming phone calls and automatically mute the XRS™ Connect radio for the duration of the call, ensuring uninterrupted phone conversations.
XRS™ Connect Active Mute uses smart phone and Bluetooth technology to either mute or lower the XRS™ Connect radio volume automatically when the user makes or receives a phone call. This allows the user to focus on their conversation rather than manually adjusting the volume on the XRS™ Connect radio.
XRS™ Voice Playback
XRS™ Connect Voice Playback, enables users to record all voice transmissions received from other radios. Ideal for noisy cabins or for users who are in and out of their vehicles, this feature makes missing transmissions an issue of the past.
XRS™ Connect Voice Playback records and stores the first 30 seconds of each received transmission, with a total recording time of 12 minutes. This exciting feature is available in every XRS™ Connect model through our XRS™ Connect app.

Some improvements but still needs work
While this new version improves the speed of loading the radio configuration, I think that the focus on the map is a bad decision.
What I want from the app is the ability to configure and control the radio. The configuration is hard to find and even though I fetched my current configuration from the radio before making changes and sending it back, the app just loaded a blank configuration and I lost all my setup. I have exported my configuration from the old app but I can’t find how to import that file in this new version.
There are also some bugs that suggest the app wasn’t tested very well; there is the problem I already mentioned with the app erasing the existing configuration.
There is also a silly “off by one” error when setting the priority channel; you need to select one channel lower than you actually want.
Even when you turn off the location sharing feature the app still activates background location, resulting in a blue “location in use” bar until you kill the app. The only fix is to deny location permission to the app entirely.
Finally the radio control feature seems to have been removed altogether.
My suggestion is to focus on making configuration easier and more reliable rather than the map.

Well my dream came true and GME released the XRS660 hand held. After a weekend of 4WD and camping in an area without phone service I’ve realised just how valuable the XRS location service is. Just one example the lead vehicle a few kilometres up would transmit after taking a turn and this would drop a pin into the XRS app on my phone (no cellular service needed) and I never missed a turn. Not only that I could find vehicles that have gone off track. Absolutely fantastic app and UHF radio - thank you.
I have a technical background and have been using radios for years. I just love the flexibility of this app and the ability to change scan, zone, selcall, and subtone configurations from my phone easily when on the road. You do need to wait for it to read/write the radio but that’s a minor inconvenience for the flexibility you get. I’ve stopped using the menus in the radio and just use my phone. Just waiting for a GME handheld that has location services. Keep up the good work Steve
Battery Drain!
While I like the concept and all the features. I have an iPhone 13 pro which has an awesome battery for a modern phone. I actually thought it (the battery) was failing until I looked at the battery app and saw this app was taking 20% of the battery power in an 18 hr period! Probably deserves to lose 4 stars on this alone because an app that uses battery to that extent in a 4x4 / camping application really doesn’t fit the bill. Fix this guys, I love your hardware, don’t wreck your reputation with poor software. I guess it’s the tracking feature? Keep it simple, get back to basics.
