Moving Long Exposures
Long-exposure photography – photos that juxtapose stationary elements like buildings, bridges and mountains, with blurred moving objects, like cars, planes, people – is a massively popular photo technique. It’s also long been very difficult to pull off. That was, until Blendeo.
Blendeo lets you capture long-exposure photos and videos quickly on your iPhone or iPad. Do you want a shot of a sunset, with a blurred sky to capture the motion of the evening’s clouds? The drama of a cascading waterfall? Or a street shot from a high-up window, capturing the streaking headlamps of cars below? These are the sorts of artful shots long-exposure photography can pull off.
With Blendeo there’s no need to grab a bulky camera, set it up on a tripod, framing your scene, and then waiting as your camera shoots – for a long, long time. With this app, you don’t need to calculate shutter time, aperture or ISO. Instead, just open Blendeo and start shooting a photo or video.
After you’ve captured your scene, you can then decide between two editing options to pull off the long-exposure effect – Motion Blur or Light Trails.
You can use the app’s Exposure Time controls to decide how much time you want depicted in your finished photo or video – from 1/30 of a second, to as much as five minutes. This allows you to essentially decide how much of the moving parts in your visual are altered for effect.
Once you get the Exposure Time control dialled in as you want it, tap the action button and export your creation as a photo, Live Photo or video.
You can import video from your Camera Roll, and you can also share video to Cinemagraph Pro, another powerful video-editing app built by Flixel (the same folks behind Blendeo). Every photo or video you edit in Blendeo is saved inside the app, so you can come back and edit it later if you’d like.
