Top Run: Retro Pixel Adventure

Run and shoot pixel enemies!

Kevin is a spunky kid with a cute canine sidekick and some handy superpowers. As the teenage hero of Top Run: Retro Pixel Adventure, he races through a neon-soaked city, leaping over video arcades to a synth-wave soundtrack.

Top Run is head over heels in love with 1980s pop culture. Yet more than just channelling the big-hair era through nostalgic sights and sounds, this endless runner is deftly infused with more references to the decade than you can, like, shake a Cabbage Patch Kid at.

Duck and dodge bad guys – or trigger the Buddy Shield to shock them into submission.

Travelling through the pixelated, side-scrolling world means avoiding enemies with well-timed jumps. When quick evasions aren’t an option, defeat your enemies – from fitness fanatics to mohawked musclemen – by throwing floppy disks at them. Awesome power-ups, like a damage-dealing shield that surrounds Kevin and his pup, further even the odds.

You also get a little help from your friends, whom you’ll occasionally rescue by running through their podlike prisons. Once freed, your pals get a flashy introduction (via a Polaroid photo, naturally) before sprinting alongside you. Your buddies can unleash powerful, onetime attacks, such as gal pal Joy’s totally gnarly Mind Blowing Kinetic Blast.

Top Run’s rad graphics bring you right back to the decade of decadence.

Collect pixels to upgrade abilities and unlock random skins inspired by fan-favourite franchises. Watched it in the ’80s? It’s probably part of Top Run’s satire. If you’ve always wanted to go back a few decades but don’t have access to a time-travelling DeLorean, this totally rad endless runner is your ticket.
