Your helicopter is shot out of the sky and you crash-land... only to find yourself surrounded by zombies. You need to figure out what happened – but first you better get moving.
Zombies, Run! is an interactive story, base-building game, and fitness tracker all in one. As you jog, the narrative unfolds through “radio transmissions”.
Characters guide you on a variety of quests – like finding medkits and tracking down missing people. Completing these challenges mostly boils down to “Keep running!” but thanks to the intrigue-filled dialogue, it always feels like you did more.
Before you start, make sure you hit these settings:
Music for the masses
While there’s a ton of great radio chatter in each segment, much of the time you’ll want your own soundtrack. Tap the music icon above the Start Mission button and select External Music Player. Then start a playlist on Apple Music – the song will quiet down when the action’s happening.
Do yourself a favour and turn on Zombie Chase, too. When it’s on, you’ll sporadically encounter the hungry horde during your quests. Only speeding up your pace will keep you safe, making for a run that’s a bit harder – and a lot more fun.
Build a base
During missions, your character collects in-game items – like mobile phones, firewood and fresh clothes. When you reach a checkpoint, you trade the resources for base improvements. The base is where your character lives, and the safer it is, the more people will come there. Expanding your headquarters is enough to push through a run just a little longer.
We won’t spoil the ending, but by the time you finish this game, you’ll be captivated and in better shape. After all, if you can make it through the zombie apocalypse, you can make it through another run.
