Description

Tlon Messenger is a new kind of app: the only tool that lets you own your communications and collaborate peer-to-peer with the people you care about most.

Take back control of your data with Tlon Messenger's simple set of channel types:

+ Send messages to your friends, family, and closest collaborators with chats.
+ Collect links and media with galleries to reference later.
+ Write a to-do list, publish a bulletin for your book club, write a blog to your fans, and keep a journal with notebooks.

Yours to own, completely

Unlike most software out there, Tlon Messenger is decentralized and open source. Connect to Tlon Messenger with a unique ID you own. Your ID is a key to a stand-alone node that connects to a peer-to-peer network. This means no middlemen mining your data and no concern about its durability. If we disappear, you can continue to use our messenger.

Simple to set up

Tlon Messenger is built on a new software stack carefully designed to enable true extendability and control. We take care of running your node for you, making sure it's always online and up-to-date.

Trust living online now

Owning your data liberates you from addictive algorithms and engagement anxiety. With TM, you're in control of your digital life, including who sees it and where you take it. If you want to run your node yourself, we'll even show you how.

What’s New

Version 5.2.1

- Adds role and permission management to groups and channels. If you are a group administrator, you can access the Roles menu by long-pressing on a group from the home screen, selecting "Group settings & info," then choosing "Roles." From there, you can edit a channel and choose its read/write permission levels based on the roles available. Finally, you can assign roles to individual members from the Members screen.
- Improves the reliability and speed of data syncing, especially on initial fetch.
- Fixes an issue where rapidly navigating through a Gallery channel would cause the app to crash.
- Fixes an issue where images would fail to appear in the Activity feed.
- Fixes an issue where joining a group via invitation would cause the app to hang on a blank screen until force-quit and reopened.
- Fixes an issue where changing the privacy setting of a group would fail to register.
- Fixes an issue where renaming a channel would not immediately reflect the change.
- Fixes an issue where replying in group DMs would attempt to create a reference rather than quote the message.
- Fixes an issue where choosing the option to sort a group's channels would go nowhere.
- Fixes an issue where the notebook editor screen would use the incorrect primary text color if the user had selected an alternate UI theme.
- Fixes an issue in onboarding where using an incorrect email address would yield a confusing error message.
