Mystery Match

A Match 3 Jewel Puzzle Game

View

Do you love puzzle games? Have you ever wished they’d give you more incentive to play on than the mere satisfaction of completing a level? Then Mystery Match is the game for you.

At heart, it couldn’t be simpler. You swap gems to make rows and columns of three or more of the same colour. Do so and they’ll disappear from the board as others drop into their place. Get four in a row and you’ll produce a power-up; match five and you’ll trigger a bomb-like effect.

Match three or more gems to unravel more and more of that titular mystery.

So it’s pleasingly familiar stuff, but a bit of context works wonders. Each level here is actually a puzzle box left behind by enigmatic 18th century inventor, Alexander Knight. As Detective Emma Fairfax, your job is to open them up and obtain clues to an elusive mystery.

So when a new element comes along, like black gems or metal ‘blockers’ that need removing by making a nearby match, it feels like you’re being given a more advanced box mechanism to solve.

There are multiple clever twists on the familiar ‘match stuff’ play – and a story to drink in, too.

Elsewhere, you’ll need to make matches on certain spaces to uncover brooches hidden beneath. Or you might drop runic symbols to the bottom of the grid, ready to be deciphered by a cryptologist.

Little story and character snippets like this are doled out regularly, and encrypted messages give you coordinates and clues to new locations around the world.

So what at first seems like a simple puzzle game soon grows into an epic, globe-hopping adventure. Mystery Match is a clever combo of story and puzzling that has proven irresistible to millions of players – and we can see why.
