iGeoTrans X is a cloud app on the smartphone, designed to address common problems for fieldwork researchers hoping to use smartphones ad the field as GPS/GIS & Data collection devices.

What can you do with iGeoTrans:

Version 2.7.2

iGeoTrans X 2.7.2 includes bug fixes and performance improvements and compatibility.

Good potential

The program is well conceived and has great potential to live up to its promise but needs some work.

I found two shortcomings
1. the app lacks precision in the definition of the projection parameters (Lambert Conformal Conical 2 parallels, latitudes for both standard parallels and latutude of origin): for these parameters, the program seems to round decimal degrees, input with sufficient decimals, to two decimals only before converting the input to degrees, minutes and seconds. The other parameters (False Northing and Easting) are rounded to the metre, I can live with that but supporting two or three decimals would be better.
2. the app does not accept 90 degrees as origin for Lambert 2 , which is however the specification for the Belgian projection Lambert 1972. It returns an error that I fed back to the developer.

Both issues prevent its use in Belgium (and probably also elsewhere). I provided the developer with technical documentation to support my feedback. He promised to fix the app for my country, so I assume he will make it work for Belgian Lambert projections. He did not say anything about the lack of precision but I suppose he'll address this as well since without the required precision the results are inadequate (at least for Belgium).

I recommend downloading the light version and providing your feedback to the developer. I think he will take your feedback seriously. Now I'm awaiting the fix for the two issues that I mentioned.

An additional feature could be to allow the user to define his own ellipsoids. But let's concentrate on fixing the current issues first.
