LanScan is a simple and efficient IPv4 network scanner that discovers all active devices on any subnet: the local one, or any public subnet that you configure.

-> Auto-detection of configured interfaces: Airport, Ethernet, Virtual interfaces ...
-> Scan the IP range you like, from 1 IP to the whole IPv4 address space!
-> Scan your local network with ARP packets
-> Scan public IP network ranges with Ping / SMB / mDNS packets
-> Display the IP address, MAC address, hostname (4 max) and vendor associated
-> Discover the SMB domain if any configured
-> Hostname resolution: DNS, mDNS (Apple devices) and SMB (Windows devices)
-> Custom hostname edition
-> Custom comment for each device
-> Open custom URL in browser
-> Export results in CSV files
-> Hide/show each column
-> Align each column as you want
-> No limitation on the number of devices found !

Restrictions in free version compared to Pro in-app purchase:
-> Only 4 hostnames are fully displayed -> You'll see the first 3 chars of the others
-> Only few TCP ports are displayed in free version

can’t switch

When mac is on wifi it can’t see other macs/pc's connected by ethernet to the router. That defeats the purpose of the app.

Developer Response ,

Some Wi-Fi Access Points may restrict the way of discovering other devices on the same network.

If LanScan doesn't discover other devices after several scans, please try to ping them.
If you can't, guess no scanners will be able to discover them, and it's not an application issue, more a network/security restriction of your Access Point / Router.

Great tool!

The full version is geat, it does what it says on the packet. And if you switch fom Ethernet to WIFI, don't forget to re-launch the app!

Developer Response ,

Hello Jp, you should not have to restart LanScan: network changes must be detected and you're notified in Notification Center (Did you allow LanScan's notifications ?), proposing you to reload new IP configuration. Else, simply reselect the interface in your prefs (Ex reselect/reclick on 'en0' in the interface list popup) and it will reload new IP configuration.
Don't hesitate to drop us an email at if you still can't reload network config.
