Beschrijving

De ideale coach metgezel, hij speelt met je en legt alles stap voor stap uit. Complete beginners zijn welkom; ook goed voor gemiddelde spelers.
Terwijl jij aan het schaken bent, geeft hij les, wijst hij op strategische ideeën en helpt hij bij fouten. Er zijn ook vijfentwintig lessen, die dieper ingaan op elk concept met voldoende mogelijkheden voor begeleide oefening. Dr. Wolf zelf is vriendelijk, zachtaardig en af en toe geestig.
Terwijl je nieuwe schaakvaardigheden leert en deze in je spellen gebruikt, zal Dr. Wolf nieuwe concepten introduceren om onder de knie te krijgen. Telkens wanneer je een vaardigheid in het spel gebruikt, erkent Dr. Wolf dit en verdien je punten.
De beste manier om iets te leren is met een coach. En nu is de coachingsstijl van schaken eindelijk beschikbaar in een app. Probeer het eens!

Om verder te leren, kun je je inschrijven voor Coaching. Met Coaching geeft Dr. Wolf les terwijl je schaakt, waarbij hij wijst op goede en slechte zetten - zowel die van jou als die van hem - en de redenering erachter. Soms zal hij je vriendelijk voorstellen een zet te heroverwegen, of een vraag stellen op een kritiek moment. Bovendien krijg je onbeperkte hints, onbeperkt ongedaan maken en onbeperkte toegang tot onze lessenbibliotheek, met vijfentwintig lessen in de unieke stijl van Dr. Wolf.
Of je nu wel of niet kiest voor een abonnement, Dr. Wolf zal altijd met je schaken. Hij zou nooit nee zeggen tegen een goed potje schaken.

I am reconciled with chess games

I had had it with chess games!
Especially those where a “coach” is essentially showing off how much better he/she is.

Then this app arrived.
A friendly coach is teaching you chess step by step.
Warning when you blunder; letting you take your last move back.

Modern good games use the “you win or you learn” paradigm.
This app goes one step further: it lets you win and learn.
Yes Dr Wolf lets you win.
Nothing is more motivating to continue practicing daily.
And the Wolf keeps track of your score and improvement.

A friend of mine suggested this app to me. Now I am pretty sure, next time we will play chess I will last at least 15 minutes instead of the usual 5.

This made me reconsider my view on chess apps!

Besides a dozen of chess Apps in the past years, I have been using Chess.com, ChessKid.com and this App for about 3 months now I think. My entire life I have had a love-hate relationship with chess. And sites such as chess.com do not make it any easier, on the contrary, chess can be very brutal and frustrating, leading me to think I’m too stupid for chess. I have been dropping chess over and over again in my life and never made any progress. Until I discovered Dr Wolf! I have learned so much since I started using this App! If you are a beginner and you would like to advance, then Dr Wolf is a must have App. The coaching is phenomenal! I have no idea how they program this but the coach bot is way better than the other 2 sites that I mentioned. It feels as if a human is coaching you. To start with, here the coach actually speaks besides giving you textual coaching only. He tells you why it’s a good/bad move and shows you why in an interface that is way easier to handle than all the bells and whistles of chess.com. You can also tap on chess terms in the narration which opens up a dialog with definitions and an illustration. After every full game with Dr Wolf, you can hit the “Train” tab which takes you through all the mistakes you made during that game and you get a chance to try better moves and Dr Wolf will talk you through it. You can also explore alternate moves and again, you will get feedback. The chapter “Lessons” is easy to follow, well structured and gives only the essence while in chess.com you get immediate sensory overload as a beginner. So Dr Wolf is the best App to learn chess in my opinion. Then, I made the step back to chess.com because there you have much more advanced features of course such as engine lines, game reviews, analysis and multiplayer against humans which Dr Wolf does not have. So if you don’t know where to start, this is it!
