Description

Möbius Sync brings Syncthing to your iPhone or iPad, allowing you to synchronize selected files between iOS devices and other devices supported by Syncthing, without the need for any cloud service.

Supports multiple folders and multiple remote devices. Synchronized folders can be created either:
1. in the Möbius Sync sandbox and files can be added to and retrieved from shared folders via the iOS Files app; or
2. (PAID feature) by accessing other apps' sandboxes. This feature is EXPERIMENTAL and may break other app's functionality.

Uses the open-source Syncthing engine internally.

Usage within the Möbius Sync sandbox is free up to 20MB. Unlimited file sync, including files in other apps' sanboxes is available for a one-time purchase.

The functionality unlocked by in-app purchase is identical to that in Möbius Sync Pro (which is purchased up-front).

Excellent concept

Peer-to-peer sharing is excellent to get control back for our data. I use SyncThing on a number of other device types (NAS, PC…), and this brings the iPhone into that ecosystem, without relying on third-party storage.

I noticed that the app will now try to sync in the background (power connected or not), this is a great addition.

I have 2 requests:
1. is it possible to expose the folders through the Files app, like Dropbox & other apps do? I guess this would give access to additional capabilities (esp. background), although this can be more challenging to implement

2. if 1. is implemented, would be great to also enable this somehow experimental flag (NSExtensionFileProviderSupportsPickingFolders) that a number of 3rd party apps start to support, and which lets you further integrate Möbius managed folders into other apps and custom workflows. [we are developers as well, this feature brings a lot of new capabilities & customisation]

Anyway, kuddos to this effort & keep up with the great work. Glad to have SyncThing onboard.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your support and detailed feedback. Implementing as a Files app is something we’d love to do, however it would involve a lot of rearchitecting and mean we have to diverge from the upstream source more significantly, making it harder to keep up with ongoing Syncthing releases. Maybe one day.
