Background
The need for and the temperature of preheat are dependent on several factors such as the chemical analysis, degree of restraint of the parts being joined, material thickness and mechanical properties. It is cautioned that the preheating temperatures listed below do not necessarily ensure satisfactory completion of the welded joint and requirements for individual materials within the P‐Number listing may have preheating more or less restrictive than this general guide.

The preheat temperature of joining metal given by this app is in accordance with ASME Section I, VIII-1 and NBIC Part 3 2023 Edition.

This app determines provide the recommended preheat temperature of the joining metal. When welding two metal parts together, it is essential that the joining edges are free of contamination and moisture, preheating the joining face remove the moistures from the joining faces.
