Description

RitchieCam is a free app for streamlining your iPhone photography. Easy to use. With intuitive minimalistic controls, RitchieCam is simple for beginners, yet useful for experienced photographers. Whether you have no interest in cameras yet want some snaps of your kids or pets or vacation to share on social media, or if you are a pro doing a Route 66 photography project, or anywhere in-between, you’ll find this app straightforward enough—yet sophisticated enough—for your needs. One-step philosophy. RitchieCam produces photos that are ready to be shared or printed the instant that they’re captured (no editing needed!), which saves you time and hassle. There are 17 filters in RitchieCam to choose from: 14 color and 3 B&W. These filters have a retro vibe, and you’re sure to find at least one that compliments your style. Three are available for free—Standard Film, Analog Color, and B&W Negative; unlock the other 14 by becoming a RitchieCam Patron for only $9.99 (USD + Tax Annually) today!

Subscription ≠ free ≠ 2 filters only

You get two filters for free. That’s it. All others behind a yearly subscription. So limited in way I can better remove it. These two free filters have no WOW factor so why use this app instead all other real free apps? Make it a one time purchase and I will pay the 10€, but a subscription for some filters? Nope.

Developer Response ,

There are, in fact, THREE free filters: Standard Film, Analog Color, and B&W Negative. I'm sorry that you misunderstood and these particular filters didn't "wow" you. I chose them because they were ones that I personally liked, and during testing I gravitated to the most. But everyone has different tastes, so I understand that not everyone will like them. As far as one-time-fee vs subscription, you wouldn't buy something at Target and expect them to continuously update and improve on whatever you purchased for years to come, and you shouldn't expect that from apps or software, either. It's an outdated model that's used less and less, while the subscription model is used more and more (and is currently the most common model) because it is a win-win: there is motivation to improve the app, which makes it better for the user in the long run. The other free apps are most likely collecting and selling your data, which is used to run targeted ads that are highly affective against you, making you unknowingly spend much more than $10 annually (it's a multi-billion dollar industry for a reason). I don't do that. As it is said, there's no such thing as a free lunch, and if you are not the customer, you are the product. RitchieCam is rare in that you are never the product (at my personal loss, but hey I can feel good about myself, because what most free apps are doing is despicable). I'm sorry that you didn't find my app to be a useful free tool and only worthy of one star, which seems harsh and based largely on a desire for me to give away even more of my hard work.
