Exactly what I needed
This app. I don’t know how I begin to describe how much I’m enjoying it. It’s the thing you’re looking for without even knowing it.
I think it’s a fact that the world speeds up every day. Things are faster, more efficient. People rarely take the time to talk deeply with the people they know - so can you imagine doing it with people you don’t?
Well, you don’t have to just imagine. Simply download this app, check some of your interests and languages spoken - or even languages you are interested in, a feature that in itself captures the entire beauty of this app - and you have a multitude of potential pen pals within your reach. It’s so great to be able to talk with someone openly, without having to wonder how to approach the subject - conversation either comes naturally, or it doesn’t, but with this app it doesn’t need to be nerve-wracking. I had three incoming letters within 24 hours of downloading this app.
It’s so great to have a platform for SLOW communication. When I get a letter I know that because of the system, the other person isn’t even expecting a reply until probably a couple days later. This gives me plenty of time to read carefully and write carefully and not miss a thing. The extended time is also really helpful for drafting letters in languages you are not fluent in - I spent an hour just today writing a letter to a (I already want to use the word ‘friend’) from Hong Kong who I’m communicating with in 中文，and it’s been the best use of my time all day.
For anyone out to learn about new cultures and languages, make friends halfway across the world, or have a long distance conversation with coherent paragraphs and no one word replies, this is the app for you.
I’d give it six stars if I could.
P.S: it’s also great that the people on here, because of the nature of the connection you establish, are so open and usually don’t have an agenda. At least in the beginning, no one asks for real life names, no one is looking to find a hook-up, nobody talks to you only because of your profile picture. The world did not need another tinder or WhatsApp, but it did need this.
