Stylish
Whink has a very innovative approach to note taking.
Much of that is being evoqued by a unique GUI style with bold colors, original icons...
But also by a well dosed kind of minimalism that serves one goal, taking notes.
The functionalities beyond are there, but less in your face. You can indeed import pictures, add audio recordings and tags - you just need to tap an icon to visualise those options, or long-tap the page to have a number of tools popping up right where and when you need them.
But most of all, it’s about writing or typing.
No matter what note taking app I used (and still use), my needs aren’t that big, so I find all that I need in Whink. I can, however, imagine other heavy duty note takers to need more bells and whistles to juggle their notes.
Whink doesn’t allow for too much customization. A few line thicknesses, a few (beautifully composed) color palettes, a couple of (nicely matching) text style sheets and just 3 paper styles. Probably the only thing I do miss is a landscape layout paper (that’s my 4 stars instead of 5).
Whink is a very nice looking app, distraction free, and inviting to get to work right away.
Simple, powerful, beautiful but could use some QOL improvements
Simple and powerful. It has beautiful writing and colours/estethics. Having lined notes, already separated in pages is very useful for writing and exporting to a pdf. Coming from Apple notes, I mostly miss the shorter latency and being able to changing the colour of a selection (or I haven’t figured out how to do this yet). The variable size eraser is fantastic! Overall less gimmicks, so less distracting. When turning on syncing to iCloud, I also note that switching in and out of the app reloads the whole document so I need to scroll back down to where I was, so this festure stays turned off unfortunately. Anyway, all of this is mostly nitpicking and probably fixable, I like it a lot:) My reason for switching over from Apple notes was due to flickering and other bugs on my iPad mini 6.
Promising
Beautiful app with interesting features. However, it feels sometimes laggy when scrolling pages, for example. It would be nice if the app is translated in other languages (like French ;-) ).
