Description
Curated as an interactive map, the Janjevo Walks mobile app presents a single walk, Neither Town Nor Village. The Walk conveys the cosmopolitan lives that Janjevo merchants led, and how their customs influenced the built environment and the natural landscape. Having conducted twenty-five oral history interviews, and having created a rich photographic collection in collaboration with our interviewees, we have secured countless individual stories as video, image, and text.
Neither Town Nor Village brings Janjevo to life through video stories and photographs of different time periods from family photo albums. The map we have drawn and the walk we have curated rely heavily on the memories of Janjevo inhabitants. Told in their own words, their stories are journeys into the past, present, and future aspirations of the town.
