The Battle of Polytopia

A Civilization Strategy Game

View

Do you love waging war but don’t have the patience or time to keep it up over hours? Would you rather just vanquish all your enemies in the time it takes to watch an episode of your favourite show? Well, The Battle of Polytopia is the game for you.

The Battle of Polytopia takes its cues from greats such as Civilization and Total War, but does away with everything that might slow down the tempo.

You start by picking a faction, and your goal is to become the greatest civilisation in the world. The default mode is set at 30 turns, and the person with the most points – earned by things like creating buildings or winning battles – is the victor.

Earn points for waging war and developing a great civilisation.

This is very much stripped down when compared to other games of its genre. There’s only one currency – stars, which you use to build units to fight for you, research new technologies or further enhance your settlements.

Allocating your resource is where the most important strategic decisions take place: do you go heavy on building a huge army to overwhelm the enemy early on? Or will you play the (still short) long game, investing in research so you have superior forces later on?

Upgrading your tech is straightforward thanks to the tree-style mechanic.

The beauty in The Battle of Polytopia is that you’re not stuck micromanaging. There’s no diplomacy to take care of, no populace to appease, no upkeep cost for your units.

The Battle of Polytopia just gets on with it and that makes it ideal for a quick round of world domination.
